Thread: Commando Mission Terminal?

Could Commando's have their own mission terminals? Besides fixing all

the weapons and specials.


What if Commando was set up similarly to the bounty hunter profession,

since they are both hybrid professions.


1. Place Commando only mission terminals.

- 3 types of missions
Rebel, Imperial, and Mercenary(neutral)


- mission difficulty based on commando/combat level of player


- must destroy base turrets, npc's, generators, etc.


- kill commander of base with loot similar to bounty hunter npc's


- loot could includecommando armor/weapons limited use schematics


- similar mission payout scale to bounty hunter npc missions


- ***can group with other commando's to complete more
difficult missions



2. Commando gets skillset/specials as powerful as bounty hunter,
but geared for aoe, andbase/vehicle destruction.

And this benefits jedi how? Hehe but seriously, sounds like it could be a really cool idea if the devs ever implemented it.

I've always been for commando mission terminals for merc-like adventures, but too few people seem to like the idea.


"The normal mission terminals are essentially the same thing! And then there's factional terminals!"


I want to feel like a commando, hired for merc work, not simple pest exterminations, dammit!

We'd need to have a Dev that played as a commando for this to happen.... not just a blue frogged tester, someone who understands us.


And if by some unholy accident an SOE employee gave us a quick try and decided to stick with it for more than 5 mins.... once you've fixed us and given us our own terms and our tank... can i get a big ol' cigar for my toon? And i wanna be able to light it with my PFT.

I see the normal mission terminals and the factional terminals as

generic, for everyone, rifleman, pistoleers, carbineers, etc.


Bounty hunters have a specific job, to kill npc and jedi marks. And

they get paid well for completing their mission. However,they can also

take missions from the normal terminals.


Commandos have or should have the job of base destruction and should

also get paid well for a job well done.


Commandos, Bounty hunters, Smugglers, and Squad Leaders spend the same

amount of skill points for their professions. Bounty hunters have their

own terminals now, Smugglers will probably have terminals with their

revamp. I think any revamp of Commando should also include Commando

mission terminals, with payouts and loot similar to the Bounty hunter

payouts and probably what smugglers will get.

Suppousedly one of the producers while back used to play as Commando, might've been JustG or Holocron (or Q-3PO) but I do know one did play as our prof. Did that get us fixed? Nope.

As for Commando Missions, this was brought up a few times in the past...namely by Garvin (it was a commando assignment for the 2004 Correspondent Summit), myself (spin-off of that thread where I went crazy and detailed a few very very big missions), as well as others.

Its still a great idea, and something that could be implented for not only our profession, but mana, many professions out there and hence, it is brought up every now and then on the Corr forums. Never may know what the Dev's have cooking on those internal backburners, but I do hope they have plans to implement future content ideas with profession-specific missions. At least some would fit this idea; there was talk of future quests where there wasn't just one set path to completetion (ie commando can blast down a bunker door where as an entertainer can charm the guard for the key to it), which is I believe the closest thing that I've heard a developer ever say concerning this.
