Well, I spent some time tonight assembling components to make a few krayt flamers...met up with a great smith and sat down to do some work on them. He made 3 spectacular flamers one starting at 3.5 and the other two starting at 3.2 before the slice.
1st slice 30% dmg.... second slice 33% dmg... my stomach sinks... 3rd slice 21% dmg... Ugh I still cannot seem to get my hands on a sub 3.0 speed flamer since I broke my last one 
Can't complain as they did all turn out nice for laying on the burn, but UGH I just wanted speed from the slice gods!!

Oh well better luck next time I guess, but had to vent

Had the same thing happen with 2 flame throwers getting damage and 3 vibro Knucklers getting speed. I only it would have gone the other way....

And if she gets unruly, thinks she don't want do get a good slice

Take my 30-21, and cut her half in two
She got a thirty-percent slice, but I believe it's most too light
She got a twenty-one percent slice, but I believe it's most too light
I got a 30-21, got to make the clamps alright
If I send for my flamer, man, and she don't come

The same thing happened to me. 3 damage slices in a row. Don't feel too bad, high damage may be better then speed after the CU. At least that is my hope. I cannot imagine that my 3.2 speed1341 max damage flamer will ever be bad.

Since im new to the commando profession, I thougthi i would get some speed and dam sliced flamers.
I had 33 flamers sliced, 4.8 Speed base.
I did manage to get a couple of 3.3 speed eventualy and a 35% dam slice, I think the dam is
1209 max but no 3.1 speed, i'll rinse and repeat,
25 flamers + slice = ? Only time will tell…
So I guess ill try again

in the past week i have had built all krayt flamers and ALL have turned out damage sliced in the high 30s but im begging for that under 3.0 flamer. I know that feeling all to well after i sit for 45 min with my uber speed tissues i got and he says ok its a 3.0 940 max and then comes the slice....i feel like it was all for nothing cause my high end flamer for damage is still better...
i feel for ya bro.

Looking over the released information on possible changes to smuggler, it may be better to wait til after the smuggler revamp with some of those nice components. My guess, is that tissues won't be quite so easy to come by after the CU.If/when smugglers get the choice to select a desired outcome for a slice, we may all find ourselves bringing in those flamethrowers for a nice accuracy mod, or or maybe just sticking to speed requests, but if it does go through as proposed, the choice will be there, rather than having to hope for the best.

what the heck is wrong with you people. lol. those slices are god sends.
higher damage = better DOTs. DOTing high end PVE shyt is what commando does best - laying down the hardcore burns on the stuff that other people just cant touch because of high resists and AP.
I guess if DPS is your preference then speed works - but personally ive always found that other than for grinding, higher damage, better burns = better thrower.
