I was wondering... I don't see state defenses anywhere... will states land automatically now?

There will be various recovery - countermoves.
A pure Master Commando will have KD Recovery from Novice Marksman, but the regular elites have blind recovery, among other countermoves.

I understand that there will be recover moves, but I am interested in the initial defence vs states. It is my understanding that recover moves will be be Action/Mind intensive and thus one would want to avoid having to use them.
Just wondering is all. So I guess your range defense/melee defense will determine if a state effect hits or not?

I have yet to see any sign of state defenses, one of the few simplifications that I don't mind.
It's all going to be based on the recovery abilities, not inate defenses. However, I do think things have a timer on them as well (not the recoveries, but the state applications).

Not entirely sure...
It may or may not. All state effects are on a timer now, so they aren't really spammable...so the recovery move may only have to be used once or twice in a combat situation...
