During the last HoC session on stratics, the devs stated that they are trying to make it so you can only respec your novice proffs into novice proffs and your elite prof skill points into elite profs. If this is true, then anyone who doesnt want Master Marksman and wants a couple extra elite prof boxes and proffesions is gonna have to grind since almost all of a Commando template takes up quite a few skill points in novice proffessions such as marksman and brawler. What do you guysthink

If you're a Master Commando now, you'll be able to be a Master Commando Post-CU without regrinding whatsoever. Thats currently a major garuantee for the respec.

However...they're still working out the rest of the system as a whole it seems, novice skills will be worth something...but apparently not as much as an elite skill. Doubting at this point based off of feedback from the Developers it'll be as white and black as the HoC seemed to suggested...

I personally would've preferred a 1:1 skill point conversion... =/

After reading the way it works.... They need to get that info out to us now, so we can plan to not have to grind after the respec. I had rather drop Master Commando and just do a quick triple master now to be guaranteed to not have to grind after the CU. I can grind those out very quickly on live rather than have to trudge through it after the CU. If I have to regrind one bit, especially after grinding to test, with myself already having 2 fully templated commandoes... I either need to make a decision to leave or do a quick grind to a triple master in this case because I don't want to fool with the level system to get back to being built like I was pre-cu.

well, I'm grinding XP on live now, for the first time in over a year, because the respec is not 1-1.

I ended up going from a 250SP commando to a 220SP commando, with need to regrind the rest. Unless I kept master marksman.

And I can only grind up enough xp(max xp) for 1 box before the CU, the rest I have to do then. I'm...thrilled.

I have an old unused character on Gorath which I logged onto today on TC-Gorth.

My char didn't have any elite professions only novice professions

They have devided Skill boxes Skill pointsinto:

  • Novice (Probably only able to be used to learn the 6 basic novice profession boxes

  • Standard (used freely between Medic, Marksman, Brawler, Scout. Artisan can't be re-speced)

  • Elite (Probably used in all Elite Combat Professions)

If I were say 2020 Medic and then removed all of those skills the skill points went into the Standard Skill point pool, which I then could use to learn some additional Marksman skills.

Could also mean that they're worth differently. The Devs are aware that as hybrids, if it was clear cut novice for novice, elite for elite, we'd be at a severre loss as anywhere bwteen 1-3 novice trees (14 to 42 sp) would be lost, and in need of regrinding...

Didn't know the respec system was on the conversion servers yet...gotta check that out.

But we need to have a 1:1 ratio. I'm very worried they're going to focus so much on having a respec system that prevents players from getting a "free" profession that they aren't looking at it from the perspective that most players have been grinding for over a year and 10 months. Players shouldn't have to grind after the CU just to get a skill they should have been able to get with the repsec. That's what the respec is suppose to be all about. Giving players a chance to switch up to something they like. And with professions like ours, all of our respecing will screw us up since we'll have extra points from our "novice" professions that we will most likely not be able toput into elite professions.

They need to lighten up about the respec and just open it up to everyone. Allow any character that's been in game for over a month to respec to any template they want. Given the completely drastic changes that are coming to the live game, that's not too much to ask. The last thing we need is a fantastic CU only to have the respec system driver players away. I know players that are all crafting that now want to go all combat after the CU. Forcing them to now go through the long haul is pointless. If these were just some little changes, then i wouldn't mind, but if the very foundationof the game is changing players should be able to change with it.

With that said, I love the CU. It's the only reason my accout is still open. So far it's been ALOT of fun. I just hope players won't be subject to some warped sense of a "balanced" respec system....
