The last patch notes from Tiggs said that the proton rifle should fire properly.
Erm, fraid not.
Unless I'm doing something wrong and need to get a new one from the frog - it's exactly the same and doesn't do a thing.

get a new one from the frog.
mind you, you won't SEE IT fire any kind of bolt, but you animate and your target takes damage.

Hmmm, wonder if you could snipe with it as a Rifleman, since they can't see the bolt could give you an edge. Probably just a bug anyway.

Errr...wrong reply, wrong post...my only neuron must be failing ![]()
*memento: Type or think, but can't do both things at the same time...or the neuron will be overloaded*

The animations aren't playing.
But for all intensive purposes, the Proton Rifle kicks arse. Im doing about 100 more damage than with my Plasma Flame Thrower (although the PFT is slightly faster, so Ill do more DPS in the long run and get the Fire DoT) - but the greatest asset? Long range energy baby!

Yeah, I got the baby working now. And it does indeed pack a wallop
The next question is, of course - is the 6 meter damage radius on it staying?
It would be nice to have a decent weapon that doesn't do AOE, for those occasions where I dont want to aggro everything in sight.....like in the DWB for example.

As far as we can tell, there is no Radius on it. Which lends me to think that the Radius on the PR is suppoused to be on the ASL, which states no radius but in fact does AoE heh.
I love the Proton Rifle now...its slightly more damaging than the Plasma Flamethrower, but of course doesn't have the DoT and the PFT may outclass it in damage over the long run. Its going to be a godsend to commandos who don't want to aggro nearby targets as well offer strategic possibilities in PvP

the long range is a godsend. ohhh so they think they have you rooted and they run out of range of your flamethrower? pfft! just pull out the PR and that sucker is yours.

I was abit disappointed seeing that the proton rifle does not use Rifle mods but instead Commando mods, it is a rifle after all.

Then it wouldn't be a commando-specific weapon
