Heavy Weapons Class Proposal

Simply put, Make three classes of Weapons: Ranged, Melee and Heavy Weapons.


Advantage: We can gain back Commando specials and have a choice of Area attacks or Single attacks. It would make it easier for the developers to balance the Commando Profession.


Disadvantage: We can not use other professions specials and they can not use ours.


This may or may not take a lot of Code re-writing, the solution could be easy or a pain. I’ve had some limited programming experience so I think it could be relatively simple, but the simple things have a tendency to bite you in the ….


Well anyway here’s the proposal. Add a third class of weapons to the Galaxies Arsenal. It’s obvious that the developers want us to be different classes of warriors. Their solution was to give use AOE abilities built into our weapons instead of specials which could be used by other professions. However this lead us to being under powered since the opposite is true; other professions can use our weapons with their specials. This created more problems, than fixed for the Commando Community.


The second part is to give us abilities like all other combat Professions. Make them two fold though: Single Target Armor Break, AOE Armor Break. Single Target Root. AOE Root……… I won’t pretend to list out what we should or should not get as specials. I’ll leave that up to the Community and the Developers.


Third part (but not crucial): Develop an Elite Tree or Tank Tree. Move the Commando Unarmed requirement to an Elite fighter tree. Other professions may or may not be able to fill-in the “elite” tree. Example; Bounty Hunter Movement branch, Squad Leader Group Accuracy branch, TKA Tank branch. This part would be sometime in the future for I would require more time to develop and will require a re-working of templates.


All in all I feel it’s a good solution to our multitude of un-fixable problems with the current system, and will bring commando back into the balance with other professions. Yet it will make us unique as we should be.
