When I

When I first got this game, I knew I wanted to go for a profession that would blow the crap out of everything I saw (not literally, but you get the point)....At first I saw BH, but then Commando seemed even better with the heavy weapons etc.

But that was before I looked at these forums, now everywhere I look, "the acid rifle sucks!", "grenades are pointless!", and that keeps going on, and the flamethrower seems to be the only halfway decent weapon of the commandos, but then I hear the thing only hits 1 out of like 10 shots.

I already have Master Marksman AND unarmed IV, and i have 10k for the 40k combat xp needed for Commando. But now im having second thoughts, and I have little skill points (24 to be exact) left.

Are there any updates comming soon that's going to make the weapons stronger or whatever?

Last thing...How nesscesary are Medic skills while being a commando? I was thinking of dropping them and going for CH...

Thanks for the help guys

drop it then you have to want to be one to be one.... I started when they were REALLY useless, when they got to be like GODS and then.

Now? acid rifles that is worthless gernades that is only good for getting combat exp on lairs... *seems lairs have a prob dodging LOL* Flamers are only thing worth crude and soon the dabblers are gonna lose flame 4 which to me is a good thing WOOT!

I was in the same position that your in. I started the game wanting a prof that was very involved in combat. I decided very early on that I was goingto go BH. The whole time though I was looking at commando wondering if that might be better. Anyways I got BH and was having some fun, when I got my first holo, it said master commando. Not to disappointed I got the rest of unarmed and got novice commando, and I'll never look back. I'm a 1-0-3-0 and the flamethrower rules!!! It does just about the same amount of damage as the LLC but when you get flamesingle 1 and flamecone1 and up you get burns. Icould solo pickets lairs by myself when I had 0-0-1-0 and could just do it as a BH 0-1-1-2 so... Basicly is way more fun and you do WAY more damage.

P.S. The LLC is a little more accurate as a novice, but once you get the first level of flamethrower is smooth sailing.

To get good combat xp just go buy a factory crate of grenades and go to dant. Find a group and just use grenades, you'll only get combat xp and it will be between 100-300 per kill

Yes, it's true, you WILL hit 1 of 10 times with the Flamethrower as a novice. Heck, my CDEF stunk too when I started marksman.

When you're at Flamethrower Spec 4, though, it's a whole different story. I don't miss much at all, and I can do huge damage.

I'm not gonna give you any advice on what to do, you have to decide that for yourself. But while the beginning is tough, once you move up some, it's well worth it, in my opinion. I guess it depends on how you like to play. I'm not a PvPer, so I don't care how I stack up against every other class, I care how I stack up against the nasty mob I'm about to take down. =)

The saving grace of the combat xp requirement is you can do it whilst training another elite profession. I was working pistoleer for a while till I got the 40k. So you can have your backup plan being worked on as you work on commando up to the point you reach novice. Then you'll find out whether being a tough as nails dirty**edit** is for you or not.

commando for me has been a lot of fun. Though if you are looking for a pvp class you may not want to put all those skill points into something that isnt going to be all that useful vs other players.

good luck, have fun

Alright, I've decided to go for Commando...but I have this huge problem...how in the hell can you get 40k Combat XP? I have 15k right now...and getting 30xp a pop just wont cut it.

I've heard grenades work, but im only certified for light frag grenades, and i cant find them anywhere. Any other ways to get easy combat XP?
