So now we just have 9 cookie cutter choices for professions? I may have missed something, but have they just significantly reduced the choices for professions? Yes, there may only be a few professions that people are mastering, but if you look at what other professions they add to it to customize their characters, there are tons. I still have one respec left and I have been pulling my hair out at which sub professions to choose with my MCommando. I love it!! So many choices, each with their benefits and drawbacks. Are we losing the ability to do this now? Are they dumbing down the game to compete with WoW? By the way, when is this all going into affect?

From what I've gathered, there seems to be some sort of specialization options available as well, but we'll know for sure, come Friday.

Yes and No from what I can gather...

In a sense, yes as each profession will have various abilities like how things are set up now and be able to do different functions better than others...

But, at the same time they won't be clear cut cookiee cutters (or cookiee cutters at all) because the professions really are like "mega-professions" now, where they can use a vast majority of weapons and have skills that we would have seen in a few, rather than just one profession.

Ie, Im thinking...if we wanted to be like a carbineer-Commando...we grab a carbine and go dish out some explosives. Or if we wanted a melee-commando, we can use melee weapons.

I have no idea how these "specializations" are acquired...either through sub-discplines or simply just from the weapons; but its suppoused to be "more realistic" in the sence that if you're a soldier like a commando...you're going to be able to engage hand-to-hand when an enemy approaches, or pull out a pistol and lay it on him...or use a rocket launcher and bring an AT-ST down.

So, Im thinking...we'll be seeing a lot less of the versitility that we're used to, with templates (in fact...total elimination of that; rather we see that in the form of merged professions). But we'll see more, in terms of weapons and abilities. Meaning, different weapons could be used differently and allow the classes to function at a multitude of levels...rather than melee like a TKM, or 0-35 m like a pistoleer, or only doing nuking like riflemen, etc. Essentially this *sounds* like what commando was turned into (where a lot can be determined by our weapons), by on a grander scheme of things.

We'll know for sure tomarrow if this "thing" goes on TC as planned.

Oh...btw, totally random but just got this over AIM:
