Hey Guys...
I've been gone a long time without much explaination...I wouldn't be surprised if most folks don't know who I am anymore...2 weeks ago I did the unthinkable...I cancelled my 2 accounts to SWG...And to my surprise, SOE didn't even try to save this customer (this coming from someone who WORKS in Customer Service). The rep on the phone basically said "you want to cancel, cool, bye!"
Why did I cancel?Mostly because I lost faith...and that loss started when I heard that the CU was going through without the promised testing phase...They rushed it out the door...Months and Months of planning...Months and Months of tweaking...and when it came time to test it, they rushed it out the door AGAINST the wishes of those recruited to make it the CONSUMER fix it needed to be...I predicted then that rushing it would lead to things being overlooked and directions being taken AGAINST what we all want...but they choose deadlines and profit margins over the hopes and desires of those who actually PLAY their game...I realized then that it was truely "their game" and not "our game"...
I also realized that I had sat here and told you all over and over "good things are coming...good things are coming"...and when the time came, those good things weren't there...
So I decided to take time off...refocus and see if I could get back into SWG...I have been playing World Of Warcraft for some time now...about a month ago I tried to log back into my accounts...I when I did I got the message "You must first install the expansion if you wish to login"...I have to BUY their expansion just to see if I want to start playing again? What in the heck is that garbage...So I sent Tech Support a message...I got a response that I would get another response later...no word after that...So then I sent a message to Billing to cancel one on my accounts...I got back that I had to call them to do that...So I called...and they said "Bye!" Nobody even asked my "Why are you leaving?" If I ran their Customer Service, I'd fire the lot of them for not even attempting to make a save...
I hope to come back someday....I hope to be a Commando again someday...but that won't happen as long as Commando is as SOE want's it to be...I will return when Commando is what the PLAYERS want it to be...We have a great Commando community here...Very responsible and Very fair in their requests...when we saw something needing to be NERF'd, even to ourselves, we spoke the loudest...when we saw bad things coming, we tried to warn them...Our requests have NEVER been unreasonable...we were told to wait and we did...then we were told to wait again, and we did...and then we were told all our waiting would pay off with the Combat Upgrade...so we waited even more...And what did we get...we got exactly what you'd expect to come with an untested rushed out product...
So will I come back...I will when SOE gives me a reason to comeback...No more will I give my business to them...it's time for them to start EARNING IT!!!!

I will admit...there is something I truely miss everyday about SWG...it was the best thing about SWG and still is in my opinion...the only thing that no game out there can even ever touch...and that's the Commando Community...You all are the Best!!!!

You never failed anyone Garvin; you were the best Correspondent there was and it wasn't you who failed us, it was SOE. Even now, we got some much needed commando fixes...but things are still screwy (specials), thing's still go out that should have been further tested, tweaked, and outright fixed. You're not to blame for anything Garvin, save for being a Commando God

So help me if this disappears I will cancel my accts. Garvin you are an inspiration to Commandos. You are one of the greats, and I am sorry to hear you are going away. I always looked forward to hearing from you. You did a lot for us, and for others in SWG. I am thinking of starting in WoW again if things do not improve, I might look you up. Until then... I will have a Badger flaming in your honor.
To SOE, if Garvin has lost faith, then you have really screwed the pooch. He kept a lot of the Commandos flame alive, and our spirits high. Look well, and notice the trend.

Garvin,
You never failed the Commando Community. SOE failed us, as they have any profession that isnt Jedi or Bounty Hunter. Hell, even Jedi is screwed upbeyond belief.
The game is in a truly sad state right now, more screwed up than ever - and its not just Commando. Take a look around; you'll be thoroughly disgusted. I've cancelled (accounts run out on Nov 12th), and havent logged in since last week - cant right now anyway, but wouldnt even if I could. The desire just isnt there. I had high hopes for the mini-revamp they have coded in, but it fails in every way with the possible exception of grenades and even that is debateable.

I hate to say that I havn't logged on this account to play (Audri Fisher /master commando/master rifleman in over 3 months.

I should simply transfer all my stuff to one account, and use my repec to go Gunny's temp. I just can't drop command or rifleman though.

oh my..im not a commando... but that was a really nice post.... u are all right Soe is the one that failed you..and not just you....every proff but MBH/MCM is screw ...its good to have ppl like you guys gives me hope=D

Since you're playing WoW, feel free to roll a character on Shadow Council and drop me a line on the Alliance (Turrin).
I really don't think you should worry about failing anyone. After all, you were a correspondent, a middle-man. What developers ultiamtely decide to do (for good or for ill) is, to some extent, independent of that. What's important is that you kept giving the devs a clear vision of our issues and what we wanted out of the class.
And on the bright side, most of your top 5 are finally fixed (more or less... though with the specials a bit less).

I really feel bad for you guys, commandos have been shown zero love in this game and it has been 2 1/2 years since launch. I thought it took a long time to get wookiee armor but this is rediculous. A commando re-vamp like the SL re-vamp is long overdue. It took 2 1/2 years to make SL worthwhile so I wouldn't be suprised if it took another 2 1/2 years for SOE to give commando's some love. I have to hand it to you guys that have stayed with your profession though, it takes a lot of dedication to do so. I think what SOE doesn't realise is that people actually grow attached to their professions and don't want to all change to the FOTM template. They really should have cleaned everything up before launching the CU, now the only thing I think that could be done to save this game is for Lucas Arts to create SWG2 without SOE's involvement.

Garvin, I think you hit a Launchpad bug.
I just tried to log into the game, and Launchpad told me that I had to have SWG installed on my computer in order to play the game. Now, not only do I have the game installed, I had played the night before with no problems.
Fortunately, I was able to correct the error by pointing Launchpad to the correct directory, and did not have to reinstall the game. Could something like this be what affected you?

Gosh so many people are leaving this game I know. You never let anyone down sence basicly your only going off info that you get fed and its not your fault if they dont test or go threw what what was brought up to you. That seems to be SOE's biggest problem with any games they have they are always rushing stuff out with little to no testing to fix the problems/issues that is in the game. Hopefully someday in the future which I hope isnt to far away you can look back and find that they have gone and driven some life back into commandos as well as rest of the game.
