The new system will just be the adapted twitch system from space. Not technically a FPS but still very twitch based.

All of this just makes it that much easier to port the game to Xbox 360 or PS3. They're going to simplify the game to the point that it can be played on a game pad or controller.

Honestly, I saw this coming.
Orbital strikes... twitch combat... and professions related closely to those of Planetside.
Yep.
Welcome to Starside.
(For those who play planetside) - Don't be surprised if the next new veteran reward mount is a Magrider. LOL. P*nis cannon up!

LOL Hexxon that exactly what I was thinking, They even ripped the OS from Planetside. If this doesn't work out we start an outfit on planetside for all that leave SWG.

BH reminds you of the VS? Commando reminds me of VS since on Markov the VS are the ones who stick it out, win with skill not overwhelming numbers, and dont spend all their time whining that they got killed. We were out numbered 10-1 on Solsar one days and being attacked by the smurfs on one side and the elmos on the other and it still took them almost 7 hours to kick us off, got 150 sniper kills that day too. This is the kind of skill and detication I see us true commandos (those who stuck through all the BS like Star, Tac, and Rankor to name a few), VS/Commando FTW!

No, I don't think so. I can't get in to the test servers, so I don't know, but everything described and discussed sounds virtually identical with Ever Quest II, which I tried, hated and cancelled quickly. This game was the only SOE game I was interested in playing and it looks like they have converted it completely over to the EQ2 model. Look out: There's no PvP in EQ2. The next rude awakening we'll get will probably sound liek this: " ...because PvP was interferring with the enjoyment of our players, we have removed the entire PvPsystem...."
The reason why? Development costs money. This is a great way to consolidate a dev shop by making it a clone of existing products. Just think, we had 33 professions before, and I read that there was a dev assigned to each. that's 33 vs 9, and they could be the existing the EQ2 devs as well. This means less attention to us, slower response times etc. I hardly believe something this drastic is just so that we'll "enjoy" it more. They never showed interest in that i the past, why start now? Besides, they've made their money on this product, it's time to put it on a back shelf and just keep it on life support. ...and for another thing, the little kiddies will be able to play it easier when it goes to the PlayStation.

I sense a tremor in the Force<tm>. I sense thousands of players quittng silly little childrens games in a mass exodus to the REAL role playing game: D&D Online. i foresee an epic disaster and public ridicule like that generated by EQ2. I foresee millions of dollars lost because some executive **edit** has his head up his ass.
