Thread: Commando based Faction missions.

Damn enter messed me up. Anyways
I was thinking of having an a idea that after commando gets revamped during the combat rebalance - hopefully getting the assault rifle - getting their trees all organized and fix - getting melee moves added - and makeing the FT and RL fixed - maybe adding a special function for commando's to be useful in game for the GCW balance.
Basically a tab in the rebel or imperial faction terminal that is unlocked for commandos basically to help affect the GCW for faction points. It will give commandos a smaller job in solo or small group attacks on mini encampments and bases. The Empire supposedly has numerable weapon research facilities and bases and the such - and the rebel has many hideouts and **edit** true? So what about having commandos having the ability to attack those bases. And maybe having the big bases like the weapons research facility on naboo or the hyperspace research faclity be like small theme parks like the correlian corvette - give the ablity for commandos to have a feel like being able to assault bases in 2-5 man groups and completing a mission for their faction.
Basically this will be like the upcoming game Star Wars: Republic Commmando.

I like your idea.
Keep in mind though, that after the Combat Rebalance (in 2004???) the Devs have said that they will turn their focus on to the GCW where we will be given new mission types, events, etc. which could include some things along the lines you just suggested. They have said that they want to make the game feel more Star Warsy and this would defintely be that. Ithink that this message should also be posted in the Galactic Civil War board.
I supposed that someone could say that this could be too hard to implement, but I don't see much of a problem considering the fact that we (the Rebs) were made to guard an instancedfactory (along with several Reb NPCs) against an onsalught of Imps in Cries of Alderaan Pt. III. We could have instanced bases, research facilities, etc. where a team of five (say commandos, smuglers, etc) or so players took these missions and gained faction points.

I had an interesting idea along these lines. I thought that under the mission terminals there should be destory and advanced destroy. Advanced destroy would have likenesses to destroy in that there is one target but usually mobs around it. But they would be different in that the target itself would be defending itself in some way.
The defense could be perhaps turrets or automated guns.
The defense could be an emplacement like setting like a building (cries of aldeeran weapons facility anyone).
The defense could even be movement. Perhaps the target would be a convoy vehicle where you must chase down the WPs to catch up to the target.
The defense could bethe target itself.Perhaps for rebels it might be an AT-ST/AT-AT targeted. I have heard rumblings that rebels also want some armoured vehicle pet so imperials would have a similar target.
These missions could be prefered by commandos since all of the above describe something we would be expected to do (destroy turrets, assualt complexes, fight armoured vehicles).
