Warmaker pretty much summed it up. Master Commando-TKM used to be great for pvp. With buffs and aVK equiped you can live through pretty much anything the game can throw at you. The bigger targets van be hard to take down with only TK though as you are stuck with a single damage type, kinetic of course. When you happen apon a target that you can't handle with TK alone you pull out your FT pop off a flamespecial and switch back to your VKs while you wait to use another flamespecial. After repeating that step until you have applied all 4 flamespecials and have a nice flame dot cooking you simply switch back to your VKs and wait for your target to die.
But sadly Master Commando-TKM doesn't really work that way anymore. Our flame dot was heavily nerfed and the weapon switch delay was the nail in the coffin for using Commando and TK skills in the same battle. Now you after you fire off that flamespecial you cant switch to your VKs for another 13-14 seconds and during that time you will take a major beating. There is a 2.5 time accuracy bonus for melee attacks agfainst you while you are holding a FT and you dont get the benefit of your unarmed toughness. So every single attack will land on you and it will do a whole lot more damage then when you have your VK equipped.
The moral of the story? The Commando skills in a Master Commando-TKM template will never be used unless you have other people tanking for you while you land you flamespecials. For solo PvE your probably better off just stacking melee profs. Kinda sad

Yep. Though I usually ditched the FT in favor of the vk's. Most things move into melee range and start pounding on you so that unarmed toughness comes in handy.

Commando/TKM may have been among the PvE gods, but with the weapon switch delay, not as much anymore. It's still works great for low-medium levels of MoBs but against the tougher stuff we will get pummeled by melee creatures/NPCs real badly if we have our Flamethrower equipped. Next thing you know, you're using your Vibroknucklers and TKM skills than Commando.

For the first time since starting out, I now have a /peace button in my toolbar. When you next need to switch weapons in a hurry, give /peace a chance...

Why I never went the TKM-MC route...but rather built Pistoleer Defenses/Specials with TKA Defenses around my Commando... :-) So my Commando weapons were always the primary. It does about the same as TKM-MC does now, but at least commando is still my primary, as well as extra SP to spend points on it. While most TKM-MC's now dominantly TKM...
Also another thing...the PvE god is now at least TKM-MHS
An uber template:
Master Brawler
TKM
MHS
3-4-4-0 Fencer
Wreak havoc on all PvE with that template

nah, this used to be eh uber template, but since the NPCs have got their Specials back, it isnt as good, on things worth killing like NightSisters, your defenses dont do nad, they are too accurate and specials to strong, u have to have some Medic now, to cure bleeds etc and heal yourself,
the template i got is
MasterSwords
MasterBrawler
Doc 3040
this is very good for PvE and very good for PvP
note, as Def stacker (was same template as StarNick wrote), i took exactly the same amount of damage as i did with my new template which im not def stacked in, except in PvP.
