you can use a launcher pistol for hw exp and also you can get a non plasma flame thrower with flame 3 i belive.

At Novice you're pretty well stuck with the Launcher Pistol. Get the RL box first, then the HPBC box next if possible. Both are low level and don't aggro stuf too much. But...the Launcher Pistol is an aggro nitemare. Groups of players will run far away from your Novice Commando tag 'cause you'll bring the whole lair down on them with one shot. What you need to try and do with a group is stay in the back and target any critter that breaks free of the lair and heads to the main group. Then hit it with the LP. If you shoot into a mob group, you'll aggro all of them. A good trick is to send a pet or droid at a critter with attack, immediately followed by follow. This usually breaks a critter free and brings it to you. Once it's free of the mob-group, you can attack it with your LP.
Get the Rocket Launcher as soon as possible. It should be your grinding weapon...IF you can find a WS to make you one. They're the single most expensive weapon in the game to make, especially since the lessening of the T21.
