Thread: MBH/MCommando... what do I pick up for a root attack?

Hi ya,

I am currently MBH/MCommando/Pistoleer 0040. I picked up the pistoleer for state recovers and Intimidate shot. So far I have found that states tend not to last too long so I rarely use my recovers and I have been disappointed with Intimidate Shot. After a bit of PvE and PvP I have realized I really need a root attack. I can afford one tree of any profession (Smuggler, Pistoleer, Carbineer, etc.) but I really don't know which is the best root attack. The damage multiplier of the attack isn't critical, but the duration of the root and making it stick is. Also, other skill mods from the skill tree help too.

Which root attack is the best?

Can i ask ya a few questions



is BH/Commando good? what weapons do you use often pvp and pve and what armour do you wear and why?

I'm a MBH/MCommando - Pistoleer 4000 (for the speed, which btw is faster than a m.pistol/m.smuggler with a pistol).


I too have been debating ongetting +root+, which ispistol 0004 (for improved stopping shot) and adds a little defense too.


since i usually don't PvP and during PvE im usually in a group with someone who already has root, so I tryto not worry about it.

MBH/MCommando is pretty solid, I like the specials from BH. My favorite so far has been Confusion Shot with the HAR. The HAR provides Blind and Confusion Shot provides Dizzy and Stun, great for damage-reducing states. Underhand Shot is a fairly good KD and it sticks well.

I am really debating between Concussion Shot from Smuggler or Stopping Shot from Pistoleer. Anyone compared the two shots?

in my experience concussion shot is better because it sticks longer. Im going for master smuggler/master commando/psitoleer 4x44 and so far the regular stopping shot sticks for like 5 seconds. Im not sure about regular concusion but i beleive its a lot better.

I'm MBH/MCommando/1000Smuggler and concussion shot with a PFT is a sweet thing. It lasts 20 seconds and stopping a whole pack of creatures in their steps is something to see.

What about rumours that Concussion shot's Root should break if the target is attacked?

If you read Concussion Shots description, it says that it WILL end if you attack the target, or they take damage. It is simply a bug that they are not.

go pistoleer 0/0/0/3..... I think that gives improved stopping shot, its lethal on jedi who try to run away

i decided to use Mater Carbine/BH and 4xxx commando as im grinding force exp ^_^

Well the two choices I would offer are pistols 0/0/0/3 (or 4 your choice) for Adv stopping shot and fan shot with 4 but as a commando you dont really need that.


Or


Smuggler 4/0/0/0


This gives you the first concusison shot which is a 15 (or 20 cant remember) root and Last Ditch plus the ability to buy your own faction when ever you want.


Improved Concussion shot is a 30sec root which is in the Master Smuggler box, That plus Master Commando is heaps of fun and makes me a good additional to an xp group since I can manage the aggro I generate from my broken AoE attacks.

flamer + concussion shot is quite good imho...


firing it once at a group of animals will root most if not all of them, giving you the opportunity to take distance and get some grenades or other nice weaponry in.


works well for me tho... killing 3 lvl 82's solo

i get smuggler 0040 for the feign death line.

FD works in pvp again, and with the whole line you have a good chance to feign.
