Today I set up an ambush in Coronet for an Imperial group roaming around with their pets.

Everything is going quite well, but I noticed something that HAS to be addressed. We have NO defensive skills against knockdown. (actually, we have no defensive skills at all beyond our prerequisite skills)

Since we'll be the most visible of targets with our short ranged weapons, we need to at least get equal to other professions. Otherwise we'll get wiped out before we even get a shot off.

As I understand it the defensive mods aren't working anyway, but when they are working we'll have to burn some XP on tera kasi or pistoleer to get ranged/melee defensive bonuses. I'm working on that for now, haven't even touched commando, then again I really can't get any commando XP as it is right now.

I believe that the developers are making that our achilles heel. We will be the big nuker/defenseless member of the team. It is really the only way to balance us with the other classes. The Marksman specialists are the norm, having a nice mix of damage and defense. The Brawler specialists are the defensive players, that operate as "tanks." The Commando, and to some extent the Bounty hunter are the damage dealing, defenseless classes.

That is my interpretation of the skilll tree. We are clearly NOT being given defensive bonuses, and if our weapons pan out...we shouldnt be.

That's a big If to pin your hopes on. Up to now, nothing we've seen indicates that will happen soon, if at all.
