I was helping a guildie do his village quest with the commander and base, and we were attacking the turrets. The master rifleman were hitting in the 800s, and I was hitting for 2400 with my proton rifle and demolition shot.
Here we come to save the day! Oh if only battlefields were still around we would be really coveted.

Well at least we are now useful turret mashers. Looks like I may have to pick up a set of ranged arms for my commando too.
BTW what kind of rifles were the riflemen using? My rifleman was hitting those turrets for 2200 with head shot and a T21. Normally I do around 2k with head shot and 1700 or so with startle shot on the large faction turrets.

/hmmm
strange, maybe he/they weren't master or I wasn't seeing the damage over the target correctly.

Maybe it has to be a commando weapon you are using?

You might also be comparing total damage vs actual damage.
Like:
You hit for 2400 damage, but the turret resisted 1400 damage and only took 1000. While the rifleman was hitting for maybe 2200 damage, the turret resisted 1400 damage, and took 800 damage, etc.
Sometimes that is the cause of misreading damage outputs; personally I refer everything to its total damage output as creatures/structures at different levels naturally have different resists, so the actual damage will vary where as the total damage will be constant w/ the special you're using.

I dropped MBH to regrind commando a few days ago after pub 24 and I wasn't impressed at all by the new specials so I dropped commando to go back to smuggler. Rifleman still does more damage to a turret than demo shot does, unfortunately.
I still have my HW weapons and SEAs for another day anyways if I ever want to come back to commando once again. I had 140/245 speed/acc and 280/250 melee/range defense when I was commando/smuggler/pistoleer 4000 a few months ago.

My reaction was rather different. The riflemen in my group were vastly outdamaing me versus a faction turret a couple of nights ago. I have a Proton rifle sliced and p'uped to a min around 742, and I was getting outdamaged by about3to 2by the riflemen, my shot landing for around 2300 theirs for over 3800. See, this is where I see our focus fire and deadbang landing for damage. For a shot like demo shot to be meaningful, thr riflemen should be seeing 3800 and watching as my shots for 5400 float over the turret. Just likie our other specials, this one is extremely lacking, particularly as it is in fact a very specialized attack.

I did this quest with my rifleman guildie the other day to. I didn't see a visible difference myself. With me using demo shot he is able to rip off 2 shots while i wind up so in the end the rifleman probably spanked me for actual DPS on the turret. I wasn't watching the combat window at the time so I don't know actual numbers (shame on me), but I was able to notice that the turret's health bar dropped a lot more when I hit it with my proton rifleusing body shot than demo shot. And overkill shot? If you have the time to sit there and wind up then it's good, in a group when everyone is firing aoe'sinto another group it could concievably really help pound he last nail in the coffin, but that wind up is rediculous.
Lastly, 6 words- Plasma Flame Thrower and fan shot -orPlasma Flame Thrower and full-area auto.
Don't get it? Find a bunch of sith and try for yourself, I promise you'll like it.
