I know your busy Nick, so I'll keep it short and just ask the questions that everyone wants to ask. 1:Was this pub a joke on commando or something just to shut us up? 2:Why haven'tany of us heard from Helios since like2 weeks before the pub hit live, is he in hiding? 3: Is there any kind of time frame to give us the power we're still lacking or to fix the specials, because right now there unusable. I think also that a lot of us are very upset that the devs keepputting non-craftable master lvl weapons. Why do they continue to gimp our power on all fronts.I'm running out of reasons to pay a monthly fee for crap, no progress is being made, only more problems. Isn't it sad when a DE-10 pistol does more damage than just about all my heavy weapons. As a hardcore player of the game and also ahardcore fan of all things Star Wars I have just about had it with the lack of support from SOE and LucasArts, and also the lack of imagination, take for instance the new expansionis set on of all things a lava plant, what the hell were they thinking.Out of the vast StarWars world at there disposalthat was the best they could come up with, it's simply idiotic.

You said you were going to keep it short. But serisously, I am happy with the progress we have. Commando is a tricky one to balance, and understanding our role is needed to see why.

Sure, I want some variety in (craftable) master level weapons, but then again what other profession does? Sure I want some cool specials, but I already have high damage ones lets think of something else. I would like to know what the purpose of the specials are though. If they were to simply add something for commandos without a second ranged prof, I understand why they would not be high damaging but they probably need a little tweak even for that purpose.

Nothing we have been given in the last patch hurts us. We never had specials, adding them was not in exhange for something we had. We did not have these new loot weapons, adding them was not in exchange for something we had. AoE was fixed, and I think some improvements were made to grenades. Nothing was taken away, nothing added can gimp us.

A lot of people are finding Commando playable. We have a role for our damage. No it is not going to outdamage every all the time. Yes we probably need some more adjustment, probably just in the weapon availability. No this is not the end for Commandos or even a step back.

The devs from beta are probably on vacation right now

You make some good points, but we still have no power, either from our weapons or from within our profession. Our weapons are still the hardest to make, even the low lvl weapons are harder to make than anything elsein the game. We still don't have the defined combat role we're suppose to have. It almost seems their afraid to give us the true role of damage dealers, why? Just think the game is very poorly runfrom all aspects.

We all know all the devs are riflemen. They were preCU and still are postCU.

ya know what? Lemma hazard a guess at the Scenario: StarrNick hears us and communicates to Helios. Helios understands and comes up with a plan. At the next development meeting, he makes his argument and proposal. Then the others present frown. They start preaching this "all men are created equal" nonsense. They argue and debate over why Commando should not be improved. As a compromise, Helios gets allowed to makes some changes that suit everyone else's notion of what we should be and feels bad for it probably feeling like he's let us down. Well, he did, but it's probably not his fault, or StarrNick's. Some yo-yo is probably ruining it for all of us that doesn't have to deal with us directly. I've seen a lot of great plans and models for this beloved profession of mine as well as some of my other picks like SL and I've never seen them make it to live. I can only guess that some genius is butchering it in the dev coordinating meetings and handing back to Helios in pieces to pass on the scraps from the dinner table to us.

We probably don't hear from him because he's likely not pleased about it and can't voice his opinion because that will make him stand out as not being a "team player". Such are the politics that occur in Dev shops. I know, I've worked for a couple. So no, we're obviously not pleased. but here's a big hardy

THANK YOU HELIOS AND STARRNICK FOR ALL YOUR HELP AND EFFORT. Hang in there for us and like a SEAL buddy's motto was "fight the good fight" for all us. We're counting on you.

I am a vastly better Commando today than I was a few months ago. I've been playing since launch. I had friends in the prelaunch beta and it's been my understanding that Commando has been broken since the pre-launch beta, and now over 2 years out and we're STILL not working right. We are STILL substandard and they are STILL throwing bread crumbs at us, but I have this to say:

I have watched this profession since the beginning and it has improved dramatically the 2 times it has recieved attention. I genuinely enjoy playing Commando today where before it was a neverending frustration. I let loose with high energy weaponry and think "look at me, I'm cool. can YOU do that?" I LOVE being able to fight with ranged weapons, unarmed combat, and heavy weapons. I'm a walking one-man tank battlion and everyone knows it. Get in my face and I'll beat you into the dirt with my bear hands. I now have a sense of identity in-game. No, I'm not the best at ranged combat but I really should be. Until that happens I think StarrNick and our dev if that who Helios is have done a damn fine job when they are permitted to help us. Garvin before StarrNick did a damn fine job. These guys are in touch with the community. They demonstrate that they understand the issues and are they on our side. Understand, that in any development shop before any changes can be made to the code, they have to be approved and I'm certian we are not high on someone's priority list or we'ld get more attention.

C'mon guys. Our liasons have probably got their hands tied and know it and all they can do is try and make us feel good about what's coming. I for one am quite grateful for the changes that have happened and I hope they eventually get worked out and things improve, but they're really not that bad considering what we could have been. For gods sake, we could have all been Squad Leaders and get totally abandoned until just recently. So once again, "thank you" to StarrNick and Helios. Let's all stick together and be uniform here and eventually someone will have to listen.

Your right on the point about StarNick, he's done much for us all. As for Helios I'll go on faith w/ that since you seem to know a great deal more that I about the dev process. I guess I'm gonna hang in there hope for the best. Thanks to all for responding.
