Thread: Best commando stuff lvling pvp etc? Just recently came back from a year break

Hello, i was one of the first if not the first commando on sunrunner. I took a year or longer break from this game and would like to ask some things.


I need to know what armor and commando weapons are the best for pvping/npc killing and making money. The ranges and detail stuff. I am curently commando/ mtka so i can switch to unarmed at any time.


Is the flamethrower still good, and are the rocket launchers any good anymore (as if they ever were)? What is the best skill for cone attack and single attack and what weapon? Is doing flame dots then switching to mtka still good? Whats the best special a commando has. And is the ranged commando stuff any good and what?


Im pretty lost in everything, als i know from before is flamethrower is close range and does a dot and has a aoe attack.

I disagree. I don't think the profession is that bad off.You need to have top notch weapons. So make friends with a smuggler. As far as money making goes, I do just fine as a commando. I supplement with master smuggler, but I've found that in the right group and situations, my commando skills shine. The new specials aren't going to blow you away, but they are handy. So my advice is get some good weapons and have em sliced up nice. Buy some good composite and wreak havoc where you can.

i would keep away from commando for a while if I where you. Too many problems i think atm. My alt is master commando and i havent logged with him for a while now. If you are looking to make money commando is not the way to do it. The plasma flamethrower is best and has range of 25m. not sure what weapons came with the new expansion though. not sure if you would want to buy the expansion just for a new weapon. just my opinion. eventually i'll start up my alt again but not while the problems percist.

I totally disagree with that person who said to stay away. Since they fixed our AoE at least we are so much closer to being a fixed profession. Now they just need to fix gernades a bit more, make our specials powerful, and some other things i cant quite remember, and we will be set. I have been a commando for awhile so I know as much as anyone thats been a commando for a while that you just need to know how to adapt to the profession.


That being said, when i came back several months ago to the CU I found that ranged no longer mixes well with melee like it once did. Your defense will be greatly lowered, as it will pertain to one or the other, and you will have very few skills with your commando weapon (as the ones we now have totally suck). Youd be best off, first of all, getting rid of TKM. I know it sucks, and I hated doing it, but unless you get another ranged profs specials in their your going to have a hard time.


That being said, we now have a plasma flamethrower, and yeah its still decent especially because we can land a debuff (dot what-have-you) from a different ranged special on all agro within the AOE. Keep in mind, however, some weapons are ALWAYS AoE and some are not. Theres no special anymore that makes them as such anymore. Rocket launchers are no more so many uses, which is cool, but the damage and such on them sucks. Only thing they are good for is they have a knock down on them now (when they hit they have a chance to knock down what they hit) but not really worth using as a primary weapon.There is no longer a cone attack or single attack, as I said before either your using a AoE weapon or your not.


The best thing you can do with your temp now is mix a ranged profession into it. This is a totally new system now and as such you will need to adapt to it, and get a all ranged temp. If you have anymore questions feel free to ask, pm me or post on this board whatever
