Thread: Ok Tac...Decission Making Time...Which Way To Go?
I have enought xp to either go Rifle Sniping, Pistol Techniques or Dirty Fighting...
So the question is...which is better Lowblow or Stopping Shot...or does the Sniping Tree in Rifleman blow both those specials away? Tac I know your trying out rifleman...
Anyone have thoughts on this? Trying to determine with is the best secondary way to go for a Master Commando to compensate for our lack of Ranged specials...
Im up to sniping2 now. All I can tell you is that even with just sniping1, the rifleman is truly potent in pve solo. it takes time (like 1 minute per kill, compared to the 20 seconds as commando hehe), but its rather rewarding..keeps you on your toes.
pvp ive only dueled 2 guys trying to use rifle specials. one was a BH, who literally blinded, and eyeshot spammed me in the first shots. I had no armor, he had composite. so I went prone and shot his head off with my jawa ion. the second one i tried was a pistoleer, who you could say was a tie. he had armor, i didnt, he ended with just a tickly of mind, but he incap'd me (i couldve force of willed but there was no point, i had seen what i wanted to see).
Of course, this is me using /aim in every shot. If im gonna stay in a ranged fight i may as well make sure my shots landed...and they did. Now im gonna get myself the fastest jawa ion rifle i can find.
after the fight I had with the BH i checked my defenses (both tka and commando in master) and i noticed i only had +20 to knockown and like +10'ish to blind. not very good defenses imo.
I am truly, truly considering dropping the damage tree in tka (i havent punched stuff since the 2.5x patch.. no longer fear stuff in melee range) and getting up the pistoleer fan shot tree, it has like +40 to kd and other effect defenses.
But then again, rifleman has also another tree that may be worth it.. the concealment tree offers both +cover (when you DO get in cover its awesome) and +40 ranged defense..not bad. plus conceal shot for pve if you want that...and sneak (you can crawl while under cover without losing the bonus).
But as of what I have now, just rifleman sniping2, my rifle accuracy is very good. Ill try and get my hands on a +10 rifle speed tape to put on my undershirt.
I even got myself a low ham host (16 ham cost less than other t21's), a heavy damage t21 and (sliced for damage) and a fast t21 (sliced for speed). I also had the wepsmith custom make me an E-11 rifle fully experimented and with stock and scope for accuracy. That thing is a little monster! +70 accuracy at 50m. in long ranges i always have +50 with that thing... a really nice gun to use in 'normal fire'. Ive been using the heavy damage t21 to put the mind bleeds (gawd they're NICE) from 64m on targets, then closing to 50m and using the E11. dont need /aim with e11 since it hits every time.
i prefer the dirty fighting tree.
last ditch sucks compared to stopping shot, the delay is much longer (i have both skills at the moment) but! i have had great success with panic shot. low blow doesn't always work, but panic shot rocks. you know those groups of NPCs you'll see at faction bases? well i just use panic shot (pauses them for 10 seconds) run in and use flamecone2, run out and by the time they're shooting, i can shoot again. panic shot also works wonders during fights against ATSTs.
I used to have DF3, and my accuracy in PVP was much to be desired.
Garvin, I went ahead and did it.
I dropped my TKA power tree and upped 2 boxes of rifle speed, 1 box of concealment and have sniping2.
I plan to go 3.3.0.3 in rifleman , master commando and tka 4.1.0.4
now that i have 0 in the power tree, I noticed that i used my flamer and my little e-11 rifle a lot more. Its kinda fun. I dread having to give up my KD+dizzy on tkasi, even though im keeping the KD itself.. BUT WAIT! Rifle special abilites has DIZZY from range. Woot!
I tried it in a duel with a friend in coronet, dizzied his butt, supression fire 1, watch him flop flop flop. rifle dizzy from range, charged his butt, KD'd with tkasi and torched him as he flopped in the ground.
The way Im working it once I saw how little melee mitigation will mean from 2 to 3 in PvP size the range of damage is already small is master commando, TKA 0-3-0-4, rifleman 4-4-0-4.
Im not sure about the accuracy, sniping line but think I'll need the extra accuarcy but am kinda being lured by the other rifleman line for anti-sniping that gives more status effect defenses.
All I really know is that I really love those ranged and melee defenses. I've noticed being missed more and more the further I go up.
Well since I don't often play pvp...I think I'm going to try the Dirty Fighting Tree...I like the idea of Panic Shot...and I've been collecting tons of +5 Pistol Skill Enhancements (armor and clothing)...so it should really help with my accuracy and speed (hoping)...
Rifleman soundsvery attractive, but I don't want to give up my 2 masters, and only getting 3 boxes of rifle doesn't look like enough to make it worthwhile over what smuggler has to offer...
OK...I had a Revalation last night...Tac you are going to Laugh at me I know...go ahead...get it out...
I was getting ready for some serious Smuggler Training when it hit me while re-reading this post...I don't play PvP (or when I do, it's very rarely)...why am I going after ranged skills when I rarely need them...NPC's don't kite...I know a mind-blower huh...
So if I take the "kiting" issue out of the equation my main weakness falls back to damage taken during battle...TKA let's me meditate it all away after the fight, but not during...and if I plan on taking out the bigger game, I need healing DURING battle just in case...
So, yes...I put the band-aids back on...Tac, it's not polite to point and laugh...I got back my Medic skills...But, I kept all the xp from pistol & rifle that I can train those levels when I do need them (hadn't actually trained them yet)...
I went and tested this out late last night at one of those Weapon Depots frequented by the high end Storm Troopers...I took out scores of them with no down time...I was able to run room to room never having to meditate any damage away since I could just heal. Combined with unarmed KD, Flame, Unarmed Hit3, Ifelt unstoppable...Iwatched as other's relied onpets or large groups of other players to help them clear a room...when over on my end I could do it all myself and in half the time it took them...the funnies part was that as soon as my roompopp'd, they'd all come running to try and steal my kill, but by the time they got there Ihad cleareda room of 5 or 6 troopers...One guy, akill stealer, even told me I was ruining the game for him...lol
So yes Tac...I'mgoing back to my band-aid profession as my final skill set....Kiting is not an issue PvE...And if I really have an issue with a ranged NPC or what to start a battle with a nice ranged special, I'll just use /overpower then a FT shot...They always come running to me...Knowing me thought, I'll probably change my mind again in 10 minutes and go back to the Dirty Fighting tree, but can't really see the point of it now...I have a KD...I have power...I have defenses...I can heal all wounds post battle via meditation, but I can also keep myself healthy in battle (in case any of those hits do actually connect) via stims...
This would be a bad strategy for PvP...I admit that...but for those not interested in PvP...it seems like the way to go...Tonight or tommorow I hit the NightSisters by my lonesome...
heh. just remember that novice medic MAY likely get their stimb's nerfed... its rather silly for novice to heal like a master medic just by using an advanced stim.
but yeah, if you just pve then medic will help you lots.
What about armor for PvP Tac? Is this expensive composite worth the cash?
Saw some that gives 2 special protects at 86% for acid and electricty and the rest 80%, vulerable to stun for 250k a piece.
Then theres some with just special protect to electricity at 90% and everything else at 88% for 1 mil. Again vulnerable to stun.
I favor the 250k between the 2 of em cause for the helm, mind cost for the 250k is at 242 while the 1 mil credit is at 319. Just dont see 4 times the price when all is considered but is it worth it at all?
I'm really looking to suit up cause I'm tired of killing mindles NPCs and think I'm bout ready to get a little PvP for a break of my grinding.
well i have 3 armors (actually, now i have 2 but im getting the components for my 3rd).
My PVE armor, which is my ubese (62% kinetic) armor suit.
My 'normal pvp' armor which is to fight other players with, will be a Padded Armor (this one's on the works, helm will have a stun layer, the rest will have rather high heat and energy resists...getting the rancor hides for that) and a PSG
And my 'metal chicken' hunting armor, a full composite with 77% energy resist plus my PSG. This one i have stored in my droid along with the numerous chef foods i need to put on just to wear the **edit** thing.
You gotta love storage droids to keep the armors with you, but stored against decays ![]()
latest build being considered: mcommando, rifleman 2.0.0.4 , pistoleer 0.0.4.0 (for the anti-kd and dizzy and stun defenses..facing bh's suck of late).
