Thread: Pistol Power Ups?
First off, I made Novice Commando over the weekend, got a Launcher pistol and whoa, OMG, this profession rocks! You just got to smile while attacking stuff ![]()
Anyway, my questions. I have never really understood how weapon powerups work and I read the Commando Guide and it says to be sure and use them so I would like to learn as much as possible about them.
1. How do they work exactly?
2. Can a powerup be added to a pistol after it is made or only during manufacturing?
3. When the powerup is used up, can another one be added or do you have to buy another weapon?
3. Are there different types of pwerups?
Thanks!
Thanks for the info. So I can buy crates of Launcher Pistol Powerups, and they can come in different flavors. Is the cost of the powerups reasonable for what you get in return?
Also, I saw some posts about the second column weaponry such as the Rocket Launcher and wondered how that stacks up in terms of cost verus damage too. Does anybody here use the different expendable weapons? Is it expensive to use?
Thanks again.
Depends on the price. I wouldn't buy a crate of power ups for more than 2000 credits. You should try to find power ups that has +30% bonus, on say speed or max damage. I'd say you should go with Speed power ups, gives you better damage/second ratio than using a damage power up.
Most weaponsmith sells cannon weapons way to expensive in my taste. Paying +20 000 credits for a disposable weapon isn't fun in my book. Luckily I were weaponsmith before going Commando so I crafted myself a good stash of beam cannons.
I use Beam Cannons, since those I made myself. Rocket Launchers are best used against ATSTs. Beam Cannons are good when you get a couple of boxes in that branch.. it's pretty inaccurate at the start.

yeah they work ok. it's like adding a second slice, however it's only good for about 1000 shots.
It's actually 100 shots.
If any of you are on Radiant, I have crates for 900 credits a piece. The best you'll find. They are 33/16.
Now as to how they work, you just drop one on your weapon in your inventory. The stats will be increased. Which stats depend on which power-up you get. Have problem with your specials killing your action? Get a power-up that reduces special costs by 33%. So say a special takes about 60 points of action. 33% less of that would mean specials only cost you about 40 points instead on the action.
Want to increase speed? Look for speed. Want min/max dmg. Look for that type.
Remember though - ALL power-ups improve stats, so if you see a Mind +16%, that doesn't mean it will add a 16% cost. It's a 16% reduction.
Thanks for all the info. Very helpful, especially PadawanChong's explanation of the stats. I wish I was on your server so I could buy some weapons from you ![]()
