we really need some things fixed, improved, seriously changed. Why all the focus on jedi over the professions which so many people are actually in? I don't know how much longer I can hold on to master commando. I'm thinking of constructing my own commando with sniper skills from rifleman, counterattack and assault skills from carbineer, unarmed skills from TKA, keep FT from the current, so called "commando" profession. I'd be happy to start over and grind out commando all over again from novice if it meant I was building up to something awesome once I hit master.
My vision(leaving out many details):
HEAVY WEAPONS COLUMN: Merge all 3 heavy weapons columns together. Remove some stuff perhaps, I don't care, just keep the FT, maybe fix the HAR, keep some disposable Hweapons maybe.
UNARMED/HAND-TO-HAND COLUMN: A reason to have unarmed4 and a realistic portion of commando skills. Specials helping with close quarter combat weather armed or not. Perhaps armor encumbrance bonuses or melee defense bonuses.
DEMOLITIONIST COLUMN: Formerly grenadeer. Fix the hand grenades, add heavy demolition charges for taking out bases, shape charges for setting traps(shape charges are things like claymoor mines).
IMPROVED MARKSMAN COLUMN: Sniper skills for rifle, assault carbine skills and close quarter skills for pistol. Build up more skills for the weapons a commando frequently uses in real life, in a way they use them, and give us a reason to have mastered marksman in the first place. Build this column with combat xp since it has a variety of weapons in it.

There is so much that needs to be addressed with this profession, only one decent line in the whole tree is pretty lame. I just got to shock trooper and cant really see any incentive to carry on with the other trees. I'd like master commando to actually mean something.

Commando just seems really strange to me. Grenades are ok, I can see that happening. Add some shaped charges or something? Would be neat.
Heavy Particle Beam Cannons, Lightning Beam Cannons, Acid Stream Launchers? Huh?! How about something that makes sense, not a cannon that shoots acid and lightning....same goes for the HAR, and LLC. Toss the flamethrower, doesn't fit.
Put in Heavy Repeating Blasters of some kind, put in some brawler moves of some kind to justify having to have unarmed IV, put in some type of slow heavy hitting weapon that doesn't rely on flames and acid. Even if it's only a high powered blaster of some kind, at least it'll make sense.
