Thread: The Launcher Pistol *What 3-5 Special Attacks would you like to see?*
Well if you analyze our weakness when fighting ranged opponents we need a ranged weapon that cuts the distance and helps get them into the 16m radius of our FT's....so my 3 choices would be as follows:
1) Ranged KD...not a dizzy / kd...just a kd...which means typically the opponent can get right back up. to compensate, have a high ham cost.
2) A Stopping Shot....to slow down a kiter and stop a charging opponent...
3) Posture Change Shot of some sort...to make the opponet kneel...again, to slow down a kiter...
If all goes well and we get some of the changes we are pushing for, blast radius type shot will be taken care of by fixing the grenades....Dizzy and posture change could be taken care of the same way...so in essence, a Ranged KD is the key shot we need...or at least some sort of Stopping Shot!
When coming up with LP specials, don't put all our eggs in one basket...remember, we have other tree's that SHOULD compliment each other...if we make the LP do most of the work, what's the point of ever throwing a grenade...and this in turn will lead to the "dreaded dabbler" (joking...I like dabblers) just getting what ever tree has the LP specials and being just as good as us with the LP...but being able to use a grenade to cause a dizzy effect, then hitting a ranged KD would keep the opponent down longer then just a KD shot...and theyby give us a reason to use different weapons together in a fight.
I like most of the people here would like to see a single shot that BLINDS & STUNS, not unreasonable when you think about what the LP is shooting. Another attack that can dizzy would be nice also, as surpression fire could be a follow up attack.
On a side note. What i'm about to suggest is more of a fun factor than anything else. An attack that is used to blast a target away from you. It could be skill based like feign death is. So that at the first box it only blasts the target 5m backward, and could progress up to a maximum of the oponent being blasted back 25m. The use for this could be HUGE when combined with a working HAR. Anyway i'm just offering that idea as I would crack up laughing the first time I saw someone get blasted off the hill in Anchorhead. The only problem would be spamming this shot. So a cool down timmer would be needed, such that you could only use this attack once every 60 seconds.
I disagree with most of you on the state effects.
For all the dmg we can deal that our weapons provides..... I think it would overpower commando to have state effects.
I would instead like to see specials that allowed the launcher pistol to be more destructive. Cone area attacks. (optional) armor piercing attacks
A more destructive LP would be nice, especially with ranged attacks...but if we had a more destructive weapon with ranged attacks, wouldn't that too be "over-powering"...
That's why what I posted is based on one of our main weaknesses post patch...fighting ranged opponents that stay outside 16m...How do we catch them to do a special? We need something that can help us catch up to kiters...close some of that distance to have a better chance of getting one of our FT specials off...That's why I think the specials for the LP should be geared towards that end...it's faster generally then our other weapons and would be good in this capacity with the right specials (KD, Posture Change, Blow Back, etc...)...I don't see it adding other effects like dizzy, blind, stun, etc. as that's what we will hopefully get with our grenades...if we get different types of effects for different weapons (grenades = effects, ft = damage & dot, lp = posture change or kd) then we will have a reason to develop a strategy regarding using what weapon and when...right now we don't have any reason to switch off of the FT most of the time.
I don't think it would be overpowering. In my view the LP is currently underpowered. I'm not talking about scaling it up to a flamethrower in terms of dmg potential, but perhaps up to the "stopping shot" range of dmg potential. Except it would be blast dmg.....
Then again I guess I could just as soon be told to get some pistoleer too... lol...
Anything with some AOE damage, blast damage should have a small radius, say 6m - 9m or so.
Some type of stun effect from the blast on one shot. Dizzy, warcry, or intimidate style effect maybe.
A ranged knockdown would be nice, but it would have to sacrifice damage to be even close to balanced for our profession...would put this last on the list.
