Thread: After reading the post on tomorrows Update, I had enough.. e' finito
Kevin,
Concerns that cause widespread dissatisfaction to a class, cause many to quit the game, or completely change classes, should be given a much much greater priority. The impact short and long term will be severe on both the players who are fed up and those that are in other classes who see the apparent lack of care.
Not to mention that knowing "what" you will be doing to fix the class is STILL not known. You claim it was too late to make it into this patch. Fine. But you've had more than enough time to detail what you intend to do, to at least give the class hope.
SOE seems utterly indifferent to the wasted time, anguish and utter dissapointment these folks feel and it's your responsibility (SOE) to do whatever is in your power to make sure they know things WILL be improved, and a time frame of when.

People simply dont want to play on TC because of the low population and also because they dont want to waste time into advancing on a test platform. To increase the population, you should consider boosts, maybe in form of XP terminals.
Again, better answer: copy chars from any server to TC (one way only). This will get people to test. Trust me, NOTHING else will, unless you artificially alter chars. You will get direct, immediate and verifiable feedback. WHY IS THIS SO HARD TO DO???
Wow, I was pleasantly surprised to see a developer response.
Holo, the problem is that most of us posting on this board have been a Commando for weeks and only able to go through Field Tactics... otherwise we sit, wait, and wait some more that dont want to work on another combat profession to replace the one that should be in working order and a contender/better than other classes.
I hit Novice CommandoI recall on July 18th. Thats about 25 days of sitting around, waitin, posting, YEARNING for fixes. Now its 3 weeks later and have yet to see anything "ground breaking" to make it so we can atleast advance and my finger is starting to hover on the Surrender Skill. Heck, the up-and-coming "Big Patch" wont do much for us anyways... so how much longer do we have to wait before we can advance? I dont think I can stand waiting for another 3 weeks or longer to play a game. My character has only 14 HW XP and thatwas gained through using a Lightning Cannon that costed my 20k with only 97 charges from a PA Member. I've yet to see any other HW on Tarquinas.
Its like dangling a steak over a dog's head thatit cant reach. We see it, we can just imagine how good it will be to get it, but we dont know if the master (You, the Development Team) is just going to screw with us or give us the steak. Most of us are sick of the demented game and want to know NOW if we should give up or stick it out just one week longer to get the steak.
Like all the other Commandos, we just dont care enough to restart the game on TC just to play the same gimped class we are now AND THEN have to learn the community to get the HW Made.
So Holo, are you just playing with us for the time being? Or are we actually going to get the steak within a week or two?

As far as testing on TC--yes, it's woefully underpopulated. The folks playing there are trying as hard as they can and doing a good job, but we'd love to see more of you over there so that stuff gets better testing and broader input. It's going to take more players on TC to make that happen.
I think a lot of people have issues with going to the Test Center to test out stuff, when most feel that is what we are doing on the live servers. There really needs to be some incentive to get players to get on there and test new patches out. Maybe rewards for hours put in or for bugs pointed out and reproduced in a manner that makes them fixable. It doesn't have to be a huge reward. Maybe a free month credit or a unique, but not unbalancing, in-game item for their main character. But telling players they get to see patches before other players isn't going to cut it.

But then people might not play as long as they wouldn't start a whole new character. That means less profit.
I would love to test a lot of things, but have no wish to have to start grinding away with a craft on another server at the current time - hell it's taken a month of grinding to get to Master Chef

'Hmm, I am sorry to see you go--I thought you were doing a good job of raising concerns for us to address.'
He was doing a great job.
'I fear that you may have overestimated the speed with which we can address issues, though. Remember that correspondents were selected very shortly before this update was locked down--that's how long it's been in testing internally. So really, most of the stuff you escalated as issues came too late to make it into this update.'
Though, had they just taken a glance at the commando board they could have seen a number of these issues.
'Stuff like the much decried baz nitch fix was done as a "hotfix." A hotfix is a fix that is extremely targeted, makes minimal alternations to the code, gets fairly limited testing, and is pushed to the players outside of the normal update cycle. We try to limit hotfixes to critical exploit fixes (as in the baz nitch example), major bugs that damage players somehow (item loss, for example), stability and performance fixes, and things that are top CS calls (so that we can improve the responsiveness of CS). Most of the stuff you've outlined in this and other threads is a bit more wide ranging than that, and we would want to make sure that it underwent more significant testing than a hotfix.'
So the baz nitch 'hotfix' (baz nitch's were underpowered and over rewarded, it needed a fix) doesn't seem like minimal alterations to the code. You had to change aggressivenes, pack traits, and lair stats. (Again, just what i've noticed could be more.) I'm just curious, how massive is the code alteration to change a cert to actually work? I.E. Just the weapons produced for the info line wep=0059 and the cert code usewep=0059 (I really have no idea what i'm talking about but how far off base could i be.)
'We're committed to listening to the correspondents and making the changes that seem appropriate to everyone (devs and players working together). But if we want the changes to be good ones, we have to make sure we implement them carefully and test them carefully.'
Understandable, you only lack proof you're listening to us. We'll see in a month down the line how your correspondent liaison is actually helping the game.

I wish you'd just cut the foreplay here Ralph and just say it, THE GAME SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN RELEASED. That last statement has very little to do with commando's. It has to do with EVERYTHING that is wrong with this game. From broken quests, certs, factions, to poor pvp, class playability, housing management, duping exploits, lack of CSR, and the general lack of content EVERYWHERE. That's one thing you'll find in a galaxy, empty space, andboy do they have that.
I have to say you've got some balls coming here to this board and askingus to come over to TC. Do you even know the kind of frustration we've had playing on the live servers this past month and a half? Do you have any clue what it took for some of us to get to commando? It's not like we open our game editor and go, 'There just gave myself pistol, carbine, rifle, combat, unarmed, and apprentice points so now i can start on commando.' It's just a tad bit harder for us Ralph.

That 'we'd love to see more of you over there(tc)' line just kills me. I'm probably taking this all too personally but being i've wasted alot of time with this game already, i think i'm allowed.
Vinny, Dathomir Outpost, Dathomir, Bria
Boy I bet Raph gets tired of people calling him Ralph
Anyway, I just wanted to point out that I and many other people are not willing to invest time in a character on TC due to the possibility of character wipes. I know there hasn't been one and might never be, but I can't summon much motivation with that Damoclean possibility hanging over me :/

YEEEEEEEEEEE HAAAAAAAAAAA!
FINALLY someone with half a clue
h377, I don't even care if possesions didn't transfer, in fact, it would be better if the bazaar was seeded with the targeted weapons and thingsto be tested. Buy the deeds and other crap on TC but LET US COPY OUR CHAR'S.

What good would it do to admit?
There was nothing Raph, the dev team, or any of the beta testers could've done to get the game delayed again. SOE put their foot down on released it on June 26 and we could do nothing to change that.
