Skywalker...where in the Docs did you see this? Just looked them over again to make sure I didn't miss something, and I didn't see any mention on specifically who will get DoTs.


Regardless...we have been told that our DoT will be staying with our FT, ill get it confirmed again if need be


Btw folks, in regards to TC -- its going to be a brand new galaxy...so making a char on the current TC is useless


So wait till it comes up to make your chars

wonderful, two weeks after i cancel my account and the OPEN beta starts.... now i have run back to SWG with my little bothan tail between my legs!! YARG!!!

Well, its waaay past my bed time (tomarrow is so gonna suck waking up >_<...but Ive been scurrying back and forth on the forums and thinking:



  • I have been planning a Monthly Correspondent Update...later today (much later) or tomarrow Ill get that out

  • Why? Namely as a small recap on whats happening, whats been done, how far we have come...and what we're going to do with the open beta -- Each CU Alpha team member was given a certain role he would be testing...some of those overlapped, but in all it pretty much covered the spectrum of things. With all of you guys, Im thinking of a way to organize testing sessions...which would involve folks helping out our Alpha Testers in focused testing sessions, taking on other professions and conducting our own testing against other templates, and generally help build our ultimate two goals -- A new Ivoni guide, and the redepemption of our profession.

  • Ill be getting all that information out with my update to you guys so we can better divide up the testing...which will be imperative as in the beginning we'll be seeing the novice profession phase --- meaning less time to fully test veteran/intermediate levels. The more we can get feedback on and squash, the better the CU will be. This is going to be a great undertaking for the community...

So...stay tuned for more information on that

I believe it's that fencers will be the only class with a "Bleed" DoT. I'd hate to lose the FT's DoT.

Ok - I lied...im still here!


Im pretty confident we're not loosing our Flame DoT...but Im checking in with the Devs anyways (awaiting response). For the Fencer's they're pretty much bleed DoTs...the Flame one in my opinion is a bit different (and we were led to believe that Fencers/Commandos pretty much are the only classes to have DoTs)


If the devs pull a fast one on us, and we lose it...then poor show on them -- as we were assured it during the Alpha Review...

I can't help but beat the dead horse.
The Devs said DOT WEAPONS.. as in a weapon with a DOT on it, like nightsister lances. NOT DOTS caused by weapons. If we lost our flame dot then every other profession would lose thier dots too.. that means bleeds. And if you look at the profession description for fencer, it says they use bleeds.
We won't lose our dot. It might not work the same, but we won't lose it.

Its late so I submit this next part with the knowledge that it probably doesn't make all that much sense, but this was my initial response/take on the whole thing after reading this nice update from TH:

I am excited/releaved/scared/hopeful now that they finally gave some real definition and direction to this thing. The class roles has pretty much been what I've been waiting for.
Looks like my commando/rifleman template is gonna be a sick damage dealer. Just don't let the enemy get to close to me.

From thier profession model thingy and the description this thing is sounding more and more like they are trying to use the EQ model for combat. While I am comfortable with this model, I don't want SWG to become EQ in space. Granted, the sole fact that the professions are skill based instead of class based is almost enough to set SWG appart on its own, it makes me wonder if reverting to a combat system more comfortable to SOE and consequently the bulk of MMORPG players is a wise decision for a game this old. Its feels kind of like de-evolution here. SWG had a complex and unique combat system, but instead of conitinuing the evolution, it feels more like a reverting to the old tried and true (something I am heavily opposed to by principal).
On the other hand, I guess you could look at it like a marriage and thus a more natural step in the direction of (r)evolution in gameplay. Like the mating of species from different breeds or herds to create new, more suitable offspring. Like the beefalo, or those housecats that are part cat and part tiger or bobcatt or whatever. I just can't help by have daydreams/nigtmares/visions of playing EQ and have it all about holding agro on the tank, with the healers set up in a systematic rotation, and the damage dealers hoping/praying they don't draw agro. I don't want SWG to turn in to that. It got tired in EQ, its one of the reasons I stopped playing (that and the never ending grind/gear quest).. and I played EQ for less than a year. /sigh. If this thing sucks we have no one to blame but ourselves. Personally, I don't think it will. I think it will be great once we all get used to it. No one like a lot of change and this is the most change I have ever seen go into a game, baring some total conversion mod.
