Thread: The Commando Web Site Is Up....

Garvin, that is a great looking website. I already joined as a member and I really like the potential it has. Great links, excellent guides, etc. The only complain that I have is that clicking from page to page is really slow. I don't know if I went there during a high traffic time or not.

It's likely because I currently have to many things on there slowing the database down...I actually have a ton more things that I added, but for whatever reason didn't use on the site, that I will be removing soon...when I do remove them, it should speed up the site (less drag on the DB)...

2 problems so far (you already addressed the nasty php lag)

the second is the root doesn't link to the main paige. Go to www.swgcommando.com and all you get is the generic "site is comming" page. Could you autolink, or at least list a link on the root?


ANd the lag is so bad, I can't browse from work. 2-3min page loads. My browser keeps timing out instead.

I'm trying to decide what to do with that root page...I was thinking of seeing if any Flash folks out ther want to develop any type of Commando related openning (I'm actually learning Flash, so might do it myself)...


For now, I'm planning on adding a quick jump page that will force people into the site who go to that root page...it was purposefully left open incase we even want to establish some type of openning...


As for the lag...working on that...It does also have something to do with the amount of people hitting the site at the same time...I've noticed, from work, that early in the day the pages can take at most around 30 seconds to load...but later in the day it approaches a minute...


Like I said, I'm working on removing the extra clutter I put in while I was setting the whole thing up...freeing up some space and removing some dead weight from the database should speed things up a bit...I may also soup up my server a bit to take the extra load...

If you see the name "Trunks" in there, that's not a stranger; it's just me.


And anyone that does show up in there, if I don't answer immediately, it's not because I'm plotting your demise (contrary to what some of you may believe). I'm probably just doing homework or fleshing out the part of my future that involves subjugating the entire human race and taking over the world.

Hm... it istaking me around 1 minute to load each page with myt1 connection andI keep getting a 'database error' or something like that. It might be just me. Do i need to have some browser setting enabled or something?
