Thread: Commando is still crap!

The elemental damage fix wasn't included???
Lol jedi probably realized it helped others and started crying to delay the fix.
But with the results I've seen with elemental damage, I may hang up my HW modified armor and move onto carbineer or something that compliments master smuggler well. I will of course cheris some of my best HW weapons I've had (pre-CU 2.4 speed Krayt FT for one), and maybe I'll return to commando someday.

I have enjoyed commando for the past two years, started collecting HW speed/acc back in Janurary for the CU hoping they'd be worth using and I got lucky as I have +24 HW speed, +21 HW acc, +6 gen range speed, +9 HW defense, etc and most of my PFTs rate over 520 modified DPS.

If you PvP, I'm finding that commando compliments smuggler very, very well. I can lay 40 second roots, snares, disarming shot, and a host of states on an entire enemy army at once.
Commando damage SUCKS though. It is supposed to be a 5???? I get MUCH better damage over a long period of time with my backup pistol than with any of my heavy weapons because of the action costs.
But I can't really deal with the super high SAC and the inability to dorp pups on the HWs, I've been finding alot of post-CU PFTs going up around 130-160 SAC!

diminishing returns, for future referance, were enforced to reduce the power of stacking by way ofpicking up professions. In other words, a person who stacks nothing but defense will find that each point of defensethey accumulate helps less and less. It's still powerful, but the actual difference between a defense of 200 and one of 150 is smaller than the difference between 150 and 100.
However, the clothing caps are still in effect. The most you can get from BE mods or clothing is +25.

so would a Defense of 150 +25 with BE mods be more effective than a 200 in defense?

Technicaly no. 200 defense is more effective then 175. But if you only take another prof to add those 50 defense, then it is more effective skillpoint wise to use the BE bonus from 150, IMHO.

nope, BE mods are implemented under the diminishing return formula.
I'll try to explain using old numbers versus new numbers. In the old system, 150 points of defense was 150 points of defense. Each point was worth the same value. Let's call that value "x". In the new system, the more points you have, the less each one is worth. So lets' say in the new system, every point below 100 has the same value- x. Every point above 100 starts losing some value. So every point between 100 and 150 might only count as .75x. Thus, in fact, the 150 points of defense you have in the new system are only worth about the equivalent of 137.5 points in the old system. every point you get is worth less and less. Thus, while there isn't a "hard cap" where you can't go any higher, at some point, it is simply not worth it to keep spending skillpoints to max out on one attribute, as the difference between having 250 defense and 260 defense is almost non-existant.
however, it is still important to have a hard cap on clothing, otherwise, smart people would get templates maxed to one attribute and have skilltapes to compensate. That's not fun or exciting, it only promotes people spending tons of money.
So basically, while it's good to have nice mods, realize that you can only get a maximum of +25 to speed and accuracy from clothing and such.
