Thread: I wish we had a Rail Gun certification

It's not that the projectile is "squeezed" out of the barrel...the projectile rests on a moving (magnetically conducting) armature that runs between the two barrels. The two rails actually repel one another and both rails repel the armature. Since the rails are fixed in place and the armature can move, the armature moves (at great speed) and pushed the (non-magnetic) projectile with it.

i thought the tusken rifle used a propelant kind of like gun powder.because it looks like thge gun has a Hammer in ther rear for striking a primer.

BTW good point on the rail gun thing with aluminum.but the way i immagined it was like the magnetically driven rollercoasters.they generate a magnetic field that drags the car along the rails,by shifting the magnetic field from one plate to the next one down the line.oh well i doubt we will ever see one.they cant even get that poor acid rifle working right.

Actually the best projectile for Rail Guns is Depleted Uranium. The same thing they use in M-1 Abrahms and the test Rail Gun in White Sands Missle Test range in New Mexico.

No way we'll get these, nice imagination but I doubt it will ever come to be. Rather than get anything new I would FIRST like a fix on the HAR.

(**To the Last Post**Have you ever seen the damage a depleted uranium shell out of an M1 Abrahm or A-10 Warthog do, hehe. If only, if only....)
