Last night I hit Master Commando (yay) by killing these "Lantern Birds" on Yavin. I was running out of the southern outpost, I htink its called the smuggler's post, not sure. But they're these big doofy birds that give you about 2700-2900 XP per kill, they're vulnerable to heat, and they dont poison or disease you.
Get some Master Doctor buffs in Coronet and then head out.
OK what are these "lantern" birds? Does anyone know what they're actually called? I can't seem to find them.
OK can I just say WOW!!! Yavin is great!!!
I love the Tybis cat/goat/whatever they are. They give about 2.3K Heavy Weapons XP per, are susceptible to fire, and don't do ANY mind damage. So with a Doc buff, my armor, and my handy flamethrower, I can take out 5 or 6 at a time for over 10K per PULL! Ummm wow.... I'm in LOVE!

dont know about Yav4 but Gleaming Lantern Birds are on Endor as well

and how are people gettimg 5k exp? i'm 3 / 4 / 4 / 3 and have yet to get more than 3k xp....and i'm killing the 80% forcies on dant and nightsisters on dath, and havent gotten more than 3k xp
So let me add my tip... for good safe XP...
Park yourself in a nice area just outside the Labor Outpost, find a spot full of Stintaril's and Tybis'. Neither of these mobs are agro, none poison, and they do very little mind damage if you've got a decent helm on. They are social, but hey, that's what cone is for! =)
They don't have lairs just outside of town, so you can even drop a camp if you need mind or whatever...
Get a nice set of Doctor buffs, kneel down and start picking them off. XP range will be about 700-2400 per kill, and you'll usually have 4-6 of them on you at a time. Flame away! Don't look at your XP bar for an hour and suddenly you're well over 100K XP higher. Easy, fun, and you can flex your Commando muscle.
Extra fun tip: Get next to a little pile of Tybis' and surprise them with a nice Flame Cone across their hides. They love it!
Also, most of these drop from 27-55 hide/bone/meat per.
