I would agree with only if poison - bleed - dizzy all stop after incap. I mean come on we as players are killing this game - because players are the only thing in the game that get incap. When you kill a NPC and aminal they are dead and a corpse plain and simple. My suggestion is get rid of the incap system, because when you die all affects are reset. The incap in pvp is nothing more that an grieving tool, and not very helpful in pvp. My experiences have been the gamers (probably 12 year old) shouting "don't DB" and they incap you again right as you stand up and do so until you die - so tell me how is that any different. I think the game itself is balanced right now - as the PvPer will all migrate to these templates and what fun is that - all cookie cutter who get the first hit - most adults, from my experience, play PvP with the characters they like and try to do their best and don't follow the templetes. Becuase all I have seen is the template change over and over and over (an Iam been playing SWG since day one)- so all we will have is the same problem different template. So, my suggestion is play the game the way you like - because PvP is win some - loss some. And this game was designed so you have the freedom to build your character any way you would like (dabble or no dabble). Because with all the changes that are being made to spread things out (like CH) is crazy, because all is does is stop dabbling - which is how they built the game. I mean why don't they just allow you to take 1 combat elite profession and thats it - problem solved - and they don't have to spend the time "reworking" the professions to stop dabbling, and they can work on content. I think the only reworking needed is to bring into balance the skill modifiers, they are crazy high, and should never out way armor and its resist. You can allow them to stack - who cares - becuase if you dodge me my flame still gets you - end of story. So, look at the game as a whole and identify the problems - not look at a problem and try to just fix it. I would like to see this game will all the profession working and stable before we look at ANYMORE balancing - because how can yu balance broken stuff?????? Just a thought..............

its fire, look for water.

Water is not always easy to get to, and at the rate that the fire DoTburns most players will be incapp'd before they can make it to the water...once incapp'd the first time, when they get up, they are immediately incapp'd again (areported bug)...therefore the "look for water" is one of the WORST arguements that us Commandos can use to defend our DoT and does us a great disservice to even bring up...it makes us look like crap because it's not totally realisitc for all cases...

I think the dot should go out upon incap, period. The fire WILL incap you so just dueling someone to get incapped is retarded especially if a covert rebel is nearby and just runs by and DBs you, not the smartest thing.

While it sounds good...what's to stop a Commando from standing over an incapp'd body and just Flame DoT'ing them again once the DoT goes out...the logic of that idea is broken...What's the point of having it go out upon incap if I can just VERY easily put it right back on while the other person can not defend...

What they SHOULD do is make it possible to put the fire out by tumbleing once or twice. No foods that magically put the fire out, no fire magically snuffing out when the commando dies. Tumbleing to reduce the damage and eventually put it out. PERIOD.

This is the arguement that makes me laugh most...Drop and Roll...Drop and Roll...How do I currently put out a Bleed? Rub against a tree? How about disease? How about Poison? No...there is no easy way and we already have Water (as referred to above) as a natural free source...WE DON'T NEED 2 WAYS TO PUT THE DOT OUT FOR FREE!!!!If someone can just tumble to put out the DoT, what the heck is the point of having a DoT...If we are going to have another way to put out the DoT, it needs to be a craftable way like med kits...Since Medics can already make various kits out there, that's why I suggest Chef's have the monopoly on this item...give them something exciting to craft different then their other items...

A "Fire Magically Snuffing Out" would put a HUGE dent in our critic's arguements for a Flame Nerf...We would keep our power...we would keep our DoT...we would be just as whole as we are now...Our critcs love to use the arguement that "I won the fight, but I couldn't get rid of the Fire DoT...it incapp'd me and thanks to the incapp bug, I couldn't get back up and died"...The Dev's see this and think "Well, there is definitely a bug here, let's fix it...and maybe the fix they make is to NERF the Flame DoT...."

And to those people who think that the DoT should work like other DoT's out there...stopping at 1 instead of incapp'ing....this is also an ignorant arguemnt...No other DoT out there has the same restrictions we have...That's the reason our DoT is more powerful and incapp's...it comes with HEAVY restrictions...I can guarentee to anyone that if you placed the same retrictions on any other DoT out there (Bleed, Poison, etc) that the professions using them would scream bloody murder to make them more powerful and removed the No incapp rule....If our DoT is to work like other DoTs out there, then the restrictions would have to be the same or even close...And to those folks who say we get the restrictions because our DoT is so much more powerful...again...NOT TRUE...we get the More Power because we cost more skill pts, have only 1 set of specials that are valid AND we have the restrictions...it's a combination of those factors that makes the Dev's say repeatedly that our DoT is how they intended it...it's more powerful and it incapps...

Here are our current retrictions on our DoT:

  1. Natural Free Way to put out...Water

  2. 16m range restriction

  3. Longer Delay inbetween specials

  4. Less accuracy then most other rangedprofessions

Now point me to another DoT that shares all the same retrictions...this is why we have a DoT that incapp's and why it's more powerful....it's called BALANCE!!!

If you add a way to put out the DoT that isn't free and not easy to get then there is no more arguement that it's too hard to put out the DoT...And if you add in the DoT goes out when we get DB'd that does no harm to us at all...If I'm dead, why would I care if my DoT keeps burning...it's the ultimate Fair Play / Good Sportsmanship proposal...the winner doesn't have to follow the loser....

I agree Garvin. In terms of good sportsmanship, the winner should not also die with the loser, if you like being a good sport.

For those of us that dont want to be a good sport Garvins proposal doesnt end that. Considering were talkign about someone being in 16m anyway, we could always take them with us when we know we're going to go by dropping a proton grenade at their feet. Of course that is if we have the HAM to throw it.
