Firstly all other profession's DoT can be put out without a crafted item, except for poison/disease.

Ok...how do you put out Bleed without using a crafted item or waiting for the timer to expire? And I'm not talking Meditate since not everyone can do that...We have the only DoT that can be put out immediately without the use of a Crafted Item (given that a water source is around).

I don't like the flameout solution - the idea of drinking a drink and it stops you being on fire is silly. Likewise asking for the person to be unable to do anything at all for 30s is, in my opinion, asking too much. Yes this would make burning less deadly - but I think that is something that is going to happen anyway, might as well at least make there be a tradeoff for getting rid of burning.

Why is it silly? If you use some Real World mechanics excuse then you really need to turn the computer off, back away from the keyboard and step outside for awhile...because unfortunately I am forced to remind you...THIS IS A GAME!!! All other DoTs have some kit to put them out (with the exception of a Mind Bleed I believe)...Why shouldn't we...An extinguisher is a reasonable idea, but it involves the Dev's adding a new element to the game...FlameOut just requires them to change certain elements of an already ingame item...PLUS...it give's chef's another money making item...How many Master Chef's do you have on your server? On mine I know a total of 2...probably more, but not to many....This gives more reason for people to need them...

In regards to the "person to be unable to do anything for 30s"...that is silly...what does that have to do with using FlameOut...all I stated before what that if they use FlameOut to put out the DoT that there would be a delay in them using FlameOut again...maybe up to 30 seconds...JUST LIKE there is when you use a Stim Pack to heal yourself...there is a delay before you can use another Stim Pack...you can still fight like normal...the only real delay is for us Commando's when we use our Flame Specials...We have to wait around 20 seconds before we can do ANYTHING....

The whole idea of Drop & Roll would cripple us...it would add a move that anyone can do at anytime for free to put out our DoT...there by making the DoT pointless...no, there wouldn't be any issues or reprecussions from using the Drop & Roll to the victim of the Burn...he wouldn't be vunerable to more attacks from us while they did it because he or she would use a common trick in PvP...they'd just jump on their vehicle, drive off to a safe distance, Drop & Roll out the DoT before we can even catch up or get them back in range...and then Kite us the rest of the Battle...

If we are going to agree to add another method to the game system that puts out the DoT it MUST NOT be free to aquire, it MUST come with retrictions and it must be consumable (NO UNLIMITED USES)...think about it...Look at all the other DoTs and think about how the items to put them out are balanced...it's just ignorant to suggest a FREE UNLIMITED method to put out our DoT...it would severly weaken our one useful weapon...

You're a walking gascan, which is why, regardless of technology, the Flame Thrower has always been a support weapon and sees little use in combat now.

Stil think it should be a Doctor ability like cure disease, or cure dizzy. Fire is a state effect. Thats how i see it. You get caught on fire, run back to your medics or die.

Chef is getting a revamp.

In addition to new foods that will improve abilities and such, will be food(s) that eliminate or reduce DOT type effects. Guessing that it will "put out" fires and "cure" diseases.

why not give master doctors a bucket of water crafting item that took like50 metal and 1000 water and came with 5 charges or somethinglike that so docs can throw it on the burning target but have the chance to miss and a higher chance to miss if the target is running around in combat and depending on how good the experimenting was on the bucket effects how affective it puts out the flame so if i doc used low quality water and the experimenting wasnt good on it it would take 2-3 trys on putting the flames fully out just a stupid idea cause im bored

I would pay whatever price was asked for a way to cure my own disease. I was thinking of taking up TKA just so i could do meditate. Maybe i wont have to now...

There is this wonderful skill at First Aid II called /firstaid that any reasonable medic, let alone a doctor or CM can use to decrease the potency of any 'normal' bleed. The only DoTs that require packs are disease and poison.

And if the person runs and comes back guess what....you neutralised them for a good minute or two. In a group conflict thats valuable. In fact you probably take them out of the fight for longer than if they cloned.

AHHHH...but you just said it...any reasonable medic...I don't haveFirst Aid II...I can't use that special...it's my penalty for not aquiring that skill...BUT anyone, no matter their profession or levelcan use water...and if you add a /drop&roll there is yet another method that anyone, no matter their level, can use...That's the difference...Would you make this /drop&roll a Scout only skill for example? I'll say it again...there is no way foreveryone to put out any other DoT (besides our Flame DoT) that is Free and Unlimited across all professions...We already have one way that anyone, no matter their profession or level can put out a Flame DoT...are you suggestion we push for yet another way?

And if the person runs and comes back guess what....you neutralised them for a good minute or two. In a group conflict thats valuable. In fact you probably take them out of the fight for longer than if they cloned.

But what about PvP? More people play PvP then they do group battles...and Kiting is our major weakness...if we were lucky to actually get close enough to a kiter to get a DoT on them and then they get back in kiting range, we would be even more screwed then ever...because the DoT would go out...and we'd have to start all over and hope for another lucky break...

This is why the idea of giving players yet another Free Unlimited method to put our DoT would end up screwing us in the end...It would even more throw off the Combat Balance and make our DoT and our only useful weapon practically useless...

"Why is it silly?"

Think about that for a minute... There's stretching realism, and then there's absurdity. While I agree that's how the effect should be handled, I really don't see why a chef should become the anti-flamethrower class. Adding a fire extinguishing module to droid, a stop, drop and roll command, or adding a BE blanket (or both) would seem to be more in-line with what one would expect to use to put out a fire of some sort.

I actually have thought about it...look at each merchant profession and what they have to offer...Medics already have tons of kits, stims, etc that they can market...Droid Engineers are about to get very rich with the big Droid Update coming very soon...Chefs have a few food items here and there...it's not about giving them a Flame Busting item because it fits them...it's about giving them something to enhance a profession that could use a shot in the arm...

Yes they are...but again...

  1. Droid Engineers are already getting souped up...they don't need this...The next patch promises to give them tons of new craftable items which will sell like hotcakes!!!

  2. Adding another Free Unlimited Way that anyone at any level of any profession can put out our DoT is just a bad idea all around...am I the only one that can see that...LOL...No other DoT in the game even has 1 method to put out like this...all require some type of kit or special provided by a particular profession.

  3. BE Blanket...not sure about that one...I have also in the past suggested that BE's should be able to make fire resistent fabric to be used by tailors to make fire resistent clothing...I see their place in that fashion...the "before the DoT" factor...not the "after the DoT" factor...

So here...I'll give you realism...let's just say that when you drink FlameOut, water shoots out from every pore in enough quantity to put out the flame...does that work for you? Is that more of a believable reason it works so that we can "Throw Chef's a Bone and push for something nice for them..."

It's not about who should logically get the method...it's about coming up with a reasonable method and deciding which profession would benefit most by being able to provide it...

Why not just redo their profession (and as I recall, the Chefs are one of the professions slated for a complete overhaul) then and give them something to contribute that makes sense? In the long run it would benefit them alot more than throwing them the bone of being able to put out fires with some weird cola. Having water shoot through your pores to put out water just sounds strange. DE's may be getting alot this patch, but it can't hurt them to have something that contributes to the 'Star-Warsyness' of the game.

Hack, if anything, you'd think chefs would get some food that lights people on fire because it's too spicy.
