Thread: From the TC Flamethrower info

You're not using the Flamethrower right. I know, I'm not a commando, but based on what you've just shown you need to use the Flamethrower to start out. Hit with a Flamesingle and get the heavy DOT going, then switch to the Launcher Pistol. Think of the flame as a bleed with high opening damage. Once it's on fire, switch to something else.
Also, if that Falumpaset closed to melee, it's no surprised you got your ass kicked. If you're not a melee you can't take high blues straight up. You have to kite them. But the Falumpaset still died...
I wouldn't fight this way if I was trying to earn experience, just doing so during this testing. I didn't want me running around to mess with the hit/miss ratios.
But, considering that Flame Single I cannot be used unless within 14m of the target and then you must wait 15 seconds before shooting ANYTHING again I don't see how it is useful.
/agree - except it appears the range is now 14m and the timer is now 15 sec

Ok first of all..the special locks ALL attacks for the timer duration..so for 8 seconds you are not using anything but harsh language. Also you have to be 16m away..mobs melee at 15... This is glaringly shown by the falumpset. You have to be that close to use the special..and pray you hit. Then you are a sitting duck for 8 seconds.I kill blues, yellows, and redsall the time..when I am not using my commando weapons(well I can do it with the launch too). This is why the commandos by and large find this unacceptable.
Hmm.. I can do 1400 with my damage sliced flamethrower right now.. it is almost the exact same stats just slower than the one used in the test. And that is against rebel NPC's. I watched a pistoleer /smuggler friend of mine doing 1100 with stopping shot every 2 or so seconds... exactly WHERE is the damage increase we are supposed to be getting?
Looks to me like all they did was take the required elements out of the gun and let you use any of those types of elements. Of course you are gonna get a better gun when your iron /steel /reactive gas etc is better quality than the stuff you were 'forced' to use before.
Personally, if you are gonna compare new damages, use the required stuff on the gun, just like you were making before and see if the stats have improved over the pre-patch ones. If they are pretty much the same basic stats, then Sony lied about the weapons /damage upgrades =p

Good Stuff! Many Thanks!
As for future tests :
*Can you get us some rough numbers on the FT's Burning effect? For example, take the Shuttle to Rori and find some squals (Or any of the slow rabbit things ) and then pop them with a flame single 1 then peace and look for the damage. Also try the same with a regular Attack, Acording to the Devs the standard attack is supposed to have a dot effect anyhow.
*Could you Do some realy basic PvP encounters and tell us how it goes with both guns? I whitnessed a Commando Unable to Kill a newb, who thankfully was not even fighting back, in a duel that laster over 3 mins before the commando pulled out the Launcher pistol
*Got any Good Grenade Supliers? Heh, USE 'em!!
The Dot on Flame Single I appears to do 286 dmg to a light blue horned krevol every 8 seconds or so.
The regular attack does not have a DOT on it at all. I attacked something once, hit it and waited 2 mins and it was still at the same dmg level.
We don't do much PVP on the TC, so it's not something I can easily test. I'll see if I can arrange some duels in the near future.
I do have a couple of nades, but have not tested them yet.

Yes, you aren't a commando.
You're assuming that we will acually hit the target.
Or deal uber high damage on the first shot.
Wrong, bub.
By the way, saying that you shouldn't fight high blues and up is dumb.
I'm a novice pistoleer with a FWG5, and I kill yellows with around 3/4th of my HAM bars left.
*gasp*
By the time the acual time wears off, on a dark blue-white, for the flamesingle 1, you are dead.
Before the TC patch we did not have any of the required resources and we were not getting shifts while the devs were trying to figure out why some of the live servers were not shifting. So, I can't compare. For details you can post on the Popojiju thread here and perhaps he can give the status of the resources he was using to make the weapons.

Oh, if you haven't realized by now, mister- "Non-Commando"
Our dark blues have 3000 HP.
An Alkahara Bandit King and Champion Con WHITE to me at Novice Commando with a flamethrower.
Oh yeah, I need to test this too, but it feels like the DOT is only lasting about 5-6 ticks anyway. HealthShot2 lasts much much longer. But,again, I need to test it to give real numbers.
Oh and as far as the con'ing system goes.
A shaupaut hunter with Launcher Pistol equipped - Red
A shaupaut hunter with Flame Thrower equipped - White
So, you can't trust the con. It's not even close to an even fight with a Flame Thrower. And with the LP I do more damage, but it still kills me.
