Thread: Composite or Storm Trooper Armor?
I have been facing quite a dilema when it comes to armor. I have now narrowed it down to these 2 choices.
Composite is very heavy but covers quite a bit...this seems to be the favorite among our commando bretheren. Its VERY expensive though.
ST is lighter and is capped at 30%...not sure on the vulns (Someone know?). Nobody ever seems to mention this armor.
I ama master medic also so those secondaries do count for something for me.
Either armor will be sliced to make it managable.
Please don't take into account the overt requirements of ST armor...thats not an problem.
Opinions please!
Then why am I hit foraround 1000quite oftenby other commandos? I do wear armor for what its worth but its not worth much against, say, a BH.

I'm assuming you've never been hit by a FT shot while in good armor.
- Let's say that someone FS2s you for 6000 points of damage, a good shot, but not uncommon.
- Take away 75% of that for PvP and you get 1500 damage. Still enough to kill anyone without doctor buffs.
- Take away 50% of that for AP0 FT vs AR1 armor and you get 750 damage. Not enough to 1 shot most PvPers
- Take away another 50% for the 50% resists, and you get 375 damage. Not half enough to kill anyone at all, and little more than a tickle to high-end PvPers who are likely to be doctor buffed with 3K health and may stack pixie on top of that.
Furthermore, specials do not ignore armor. That is simply not true. I'm not trying to flame here, but you should really do some PvP in armor before saying that armor is no good for PvP. You do not need protection against low-leve/inexperienced players. Armor is critical against high-power/skilled PvPers.

IMHO, ST armor is not good for PvP because of the vulnerabilities it has. Every time I see someone in ST armor I rejoice because I know they're just one FS2 away from death.
With FS2, doesn't matter what armor the guy is wearing or even if he's wearing any at all; it's a one shot kill regardless.
Armor in PvP is kinda pointless with all the armor piercing weapons and I hear that specials ignore resists. Armor will only protect you from the lesser advanced players.

I don't know. Check the resists on your armor. If you have very low resists, or a heat vulnerability in your armor, that could be your problem.
Also, is it always the flame that kills you? If you're unlucky enough to get hit by a PBC or a RL, you're likely to see that kind of damage regardless of armor.
Finally, I've seen a couple posts lately about some kind of bug that let people create absurdly over-powered weapons. Someone was posting about a flame thrower that toped out at over 2200 base listed damage. The best FTs should be about half that. If you're in well-made composite and you're still getting hit for 1000+ by a FT, then something screwy is going on.
A BH on the other hand has the LLC, which does electric damage and is AP 1. a 6000 damage LS2 from a LLC will do 1500 PvP damage at AP1, and most composite only has 5%-10% resists to electricity, netting you at least 1350 damage.
BHs also have eyeshot and will probably have medic skills to stim themselves. They're tough PvP targets, but they should be. It'll help when they move eyeshot to master.
Armor does effect FS2 in pvp, iv burned many of my freinds testing it ![]()
