Get a full suit, and make sure it has a decent % protection against heat damage. A good suit of composite armor will reduce the damage you take from a flame thrower by 75%.

Also, you since you don't get any XP for PvP, you should use your LLC in PvE only until you feel more comfortable with your accuracy.

And hope you don't run into a Smuggler/commando who is high on Muon gold, low blowing you, and running to 16m to set you on fire while youget up.
