Can someone please point out to me where SWG says it encourages dabblers.

The character you define during character creation is only a starting point for your online persona. As you advance through the game, your character will evolve, gaining new skills, abilities, and even entire professions over time. You are free to choose exactly how your character grows and changes, deciding whether you want to specialize in a small set of related skills or to expand and diversify.

Each column in a profession is called a "discipline." You are not forced to learn all four disciplines in a given profession. In fact, you will probably want to mix and match disciplines, allowing you to focus on what interests you most. If you ascend to the top of a discipline, you may gain access to an Elite Profession or a new title.
Hmmm I don't see anything like:

Ofcourse most of you losers may choose to scale 1 commando tree which will let you become a god in pvp compared to any other proffession or set of proffessions, this also lets you stand toe to toe with the MASTERS of the very weapon type you wield! I strongly suggest takeing the FLAMETHROWER tree.

Do you?
To solo in this game you need to "dabble" pure and simple.
But who would you respect more in general?
Who would you ask about the profession?
Aperson witha Master title in an elite profession or a person with a title from getting 4 ranks in a random elite profession.
Becasue we have ability to customise to how we play we will always have dabblers, it is a unique feature of this game which is cool.
I dabble in Dancer ![]()
"For those of you dabblers who disagree, get a life, I'm sure your very pissed at the CH changes, so I couldn't care less how you feel about any potential changes to your precious 1 skill tree."
First of all, I think the CH thing is not all that bad, it will give me an excuss to completely dump the retarded field tactics tree.
The are adding some very attractive bennfits to Master in the form of accuracy and speed on the FT and HAR. As well are the malee defence.
Moving specials is stupid, plane and simple. At master you have cone2 plus you'll have these now modifiers that will make it more worth while.
If you feel that a person with flame 4 is as effective as you are, you are either mistaken or using very poor tactics.
Further more, This game is set up for both types of players. You can choose to be a MASTER of anything you want. But you need to sacrifice other skills to do so. Or you can choose to "Dabble" in several professions and be a little more well rounded.
Under your Idea, I could Master Commando and have just enough points to pick up either TKA, pistoleer, or Medic. but not really enough to make much of a difference in my oppinion.
On the other hand, I can go with 0/4/4/0 (hardly a dabbler in my mind "Expert Commando tag") and have enough to get some decent medic skills and keep my GW that I DID THE WORK TO GET! No it did not magically apaer in my data pad, No the CH level didnot come over night. In fact I originally had CH skills of 3/2/2/3 and chose commando over CH. THis was my preferance.
SOE set the game to cater to all players.
If you go on any board, commando, pistoleer, CH what ever, you get narrow minded people like your self crying about the multi skilled "dabbler" that seem to find the best skills for how they play the game.
My skill set wont work for everyone. Just as master doesnt work for everyone. There are bennifits to mastering ANY profession. But they all come with sacrifices. Just as "dabbling" has its price.
I will never beable to use a thermal detonator or a grawl mauler. this is my dabbleing price.
If SEO didnt want a wide rang of character skills, they would not allow you to pursure many different professions.
I actually feel bad for you. I have probably "surrendered" more skills then you have learned. I have been a medic, artisan, scout, marksman, brawler, pistoleer, commando, CH, smuggler, BH, Pikeman, Squad leader, hell Iwas even a dancer (I was drunk and dont like to admit it though) I feel this gives me a better understanding and respect for the others that I play with.
I have finally found a combo that I really get a lot of enjoyment from. I very rarely solo anything as I enjoy the company. I would hate to give up my medic skills as they really help the group im in, as does my pet, pistol skills and commando skills.

In other words, you agree with me. I see no point in any of these 3 sentences. BUT the changes to CH is infact a nerf on dabblers, its also a nerf on CH masters aswell. They now only get to call 2 pets at master level and no more then 1 at any other level. I see this as a nerf because a friend of mine who is master CH prefers useing 3 grand wrixes to 1 rancor. He is unique and SOE has basicaly screwed his chances at being unique. I'll be happy to see less freaks with rancors in tow. But I don't like the way they are screwing around with everyones chances of being unique. Maybe they plan to add more creatures to all levels so not everyone HAS to use a dumb rancor, I don't know.
"If you feel that a person with flame 4 is as effective as you are, you are either mistaken or using very poor tactics."
I happen to be a very good commando and I happen to have very good tactics. You don't know me so don't act like you do. NEITHER are you a master commando. So you don't have a clue how powerful a master commando is, compared to a dabbler. Master commando can get 1 shot killed by dabblers (Its happened to me) as easily as dabblers can get one shot killed by master commandos. Tactics isn't some magical word that applys to all situations. And to tell you the honest truth useing it in any post to indicate a reason for this class being to powerful or that class whineing for no reason is retarded and shows ignorence. TACTICS CHANGE BETWEEN SITUATIONS! In a city with close quarters combat there IS no chance at avoiding a "grenadier" because you have little room to maneuver. And face it citys are prime PvP locations, commandos and dabblers alike excel at these locations and because dabblers have more skill points to invest in other proffessions (and get other mods) they are screwing the entire idea behind the commando.

No **edit** sherlock, what was your first clue? The point is that mastering commando has almost nothing worth while and anyone with grenadier can face a commando toe to toe and be on equal ground. That lame "HWs Acid Rifles and Field Tactics lines give you an advantage" is BS, HWs are basically only good in pve, while in pvp most people (includeing you) continue running, and can't afford to stop kneel use a rocket launcher get up and run again. And Field Tactics and the HAR are both busted and useless.

Yes you are a dabbler. If titles meant anything then by learning flamethrower4 I should be an expert on throwing grenades. And "Experts" are NOT Masters. Also who cares how long you took to get CH? I don't. The point is everyone had a RANCOR, not a dumb grand wrix. Thats why CH was changed. I have a COWARDLY GURRECK which will be taken away from me because SOE sucks and usually overkills the balance adjustments.
"SOE set the game to cater to all players.

I'm the one narrow minded. Its you oh high and mighty god wannabe. I really don't care how many people dabble in the HW line, its a good idea to pick up the HW line with another weapon type like pistol or something like that. HWs can augment your attack a great deal. The farking point which I am TRYING to get at is that the FLAMETHROWER TREE IS NO DIFFRENT AT MASTER THEN IT IS AT 4! No change at all except flamecone2. Big whoop. And I doubt the accuracy and speed bonus in TC now will change much, people will still have overpowered flamethrowers. What I am ASKING for is that they FIX the ACID RIFLE and GRENADE trees, and make master more appealing. LEARN TO READ. Me ignorent? At least I can read.

Your not getting the point. Your a cookie cutter character with the flamethrower line and no tactics of your own. If you want me to respect what your saying here then DROP commando (or at least the flamethrower tree) and do something ORIGINAL. As long as you master only the flamethrower tree you are a dabbler and a cookie cutter character, no matter what your other proffessions are. Haveing CH just makes you even MORE a cookie cutter character. And by the way, I never use thermal detonators either. GRENADES ARE BROKEN! And Commando has very little to no benifits from mastering the proffession. SOME mods on HWs and 2 specials, both doing almost exactly the same thing and one of them is broken. NOTHING to make us better with a flamethrower then a cookie cutter like yourself.

I'll let you know when I start to care what you surrendered. It just shows that you bore easily, I worked for commando since the game launched and just took my time while it was broken. When it fixxed I mastered it in a week and haven't left it since. I am a force to be rekkoned with in PvP and PvE. My problem is anyone who spends 1/4th the skill can match my own skill in most PvP situations.
I believe I covered all your retarded arguements. Now is there anyone with an intelligent post I can actually enjoy reading?

Very clever. Really. How hard is it to recognize that the problem is not with those that take advantage of a broken system, but with the broken system itself? How can people fault others that identify the most powerful templates and use them? The real problem is that so many professions have unbalanced and/or nonsensical tiers.
Come back when you can present an actual argument instead of spewing inane babble.

You failed to read my other posts. I keep pushing for them to fix the rest of commando, and improveing the Master Commando box. But I think that all these dabblers will get us nerfed (in a way it has gotten creature handler nerfed, aswell as EVERYONES pets, faction/creature/droids/pets in general). I'm ALL for more creative dabbleing, like mixing BH pistol tree with master pistoleer, then you get 1 second stopping shot and can do 1500 damage in pvp in 3 seconds without missing and even moveing doesn't ruin your aim much. Or people who use Carbine and just add HW from commando to spice up their attacks with the occassional dumbfire rocket. These forms of dabbleing I have no problem with, because the weapons involved work. But the flamethrower has problems and people are exploiting the problems, not the fact that its an easy killing weapon. If they removed the wounds from the DOT then I could care less about dabblers takeing up the line, as they no longer have the potential to grief. But people are griefing with both diseases and flamethrowers, this needs to stop, as it is ruining the GCW for everyone.
