Our weapons will never be powerful unless they are comparable to other weapons in terms of efficiency, not damage. It's not efficient to have a 10 sec warmup shot that would do 5k damage if it was fired, because you can be KDed, run away from, etc, while other professions just do their 1k per 1-2second and end up doing more damage in the long run.

How about SOE makes the acid rifle into a LAUNCHER RIFLE?
Change stats on weapon to 1 min 2 max damage... range to 64m, accuracy +50 base bonus, SLOW speed (like 10 seconds)
Make it be able to be 'opened' and have a 1 item 'cargo' space. Like the jedi training saber.
Commando puts in GRENADES into the weapon and thats what the weapon fires.
That would be the coolest thing ever. Having to reload the thing, being able to use specials to achieve certain effects. Aka:
AOE special : Fires all remaining ammo in the gun in AOE pattern spread.
Accuracy enchancer (aim) = increases accuracy of gun
Speed enchancer (quickdraw)= shortens refire timer.
all other specials like damage specials (except general ranged shot)or debuff specials would of course not work.

Considering the damage they do though.. they would be MICROSCOPIC. We would need a new special called "magnify" in order to see our oh-so-deadly rockets.
I fired the Proton Rifle, evaluated the new animation. Wished it was more violent.
Someone mentioned firirng the Acid Rifle and animation used to be a green glob winning it the nickname Booger gun before the upgrade. Yes, I remember that, so did my pets with ranged attack also had the green glob animation. After the upgrade my pet's ranged attack now resembles a faded reddish (pink) conical mist. I like changes, but wish we could specify the animations our weapons used.
For instance, I had always believed the weapon that produced the most smoke and the loudest explosions should be the weapon that does the most damage. Not so with the launcher pistol. I always found that effect to be completely ironic and useless in a serious grinding group.
