Our weapons will never be powerful unless they are comparable to other weapons in terms of efficiency, not damage. It's not efficient to have a 10 sec warmup shot that would do 5k damage if it was fired, because you can be KDed, run away from, etc, while other professions just do their 1k per 1-2second and end up doing more damage in the long run.

The new animation reminded me more of a spiralling shotgun sort of effect, to be honest... kinda like the Gauss Cannon in the mech warrior games, but in several small bolts instead of one big one.

I like the animation but it doesn't 'go' with PROTON label of weapon. High energy in the color spectrum is displayed by blueish colors not reds (lowest end of spectrum). Proton rifle would be REAL cool if they gave it the force powers KD beam effect but blue-violet. Now that would ROCK!!!!


How about they give us a new master level rifle..a CRAFTABLE one:


PARTICLE RIFLE - graphic be same as the SL necrosis drop rifle (looks real cool) and fires the animation of the current proton rifle. Kinetic damage with HEAT elemental, single target, max damge800 but heat elemental damage be 400 base.


Now if ONLY they'd:


1) Return the old Launcher pistol trails-to-target animation instead of that gheyarse fireball BS.


2) Return the old rocket laauncher smoke trailing to target and KABLAM! animation instead of... Oh hey .. THE SAME BS FIREBALL ANIMATION.


3) Return the acid rifle to shooting green spitballs. I mean... it was cool to use the boogergun. Sneaky too since those things were hard to see hehe.

The blue bolts were nice, but with the new animation it seems more distinct from rifles. Probably our most consistent hallmark, if nothing else,is eye-catching guns and animations. Still lovin the Lava Cannon from beta. (with armorbreak of course:smileywink

Technically, every gun is a "particle" gun.


I think the HAR should fire glop grenades. I love the glop effect.

Take it a bit further?



How about SOE makes the acid rifle into a LAUNCHER RIFLE?


Change stats on weapon to 1 min 2 max damage... range to 64m, accuracy +50 base bonus, SLOW speed (like 10 seconds)



Make it be able to be 'opened' and have a 1 item 'cargo' space. Like the jedi training saber.


Commando puts in GRENADES into the weapon and thats what the weapon fires.



That would be the coolest thing ever. Having to reload the thing, being able to use specials to achieve certain effects. Aka:


AOE special : Fires all remaining ammo in the gun in AOE pattern spread.

Accuracy enchancer (aim) = increases accuracy of gun

Speed enchancer (quickdraw)= shortens refire timer.


all other specials like damage specials (except general ranged shot)or debuff specials would of course not work.

Creativity is apparantly SOE's weak point.


1) I think it would be nice to see the RL actually shoot rockets rather than a big fireball.


2) The Void should have a different, cooler effect. Don't just say the name, Listen to it. "The Void." THAT should be firing fireballs... black ones with purple streaks of electricity around it. When it hits, it would not make an explosion, rather a sort-of "vortex" type effect that does damage.


3) Launcher pistol should be more like the scatter pistol, but with small fireballs instead of lasers.


4) Give us a freakin tank.

A rocket doesn't usually travel so fast that you cant see it. So I say, let us see how small the rockets in the rocket launcher are.

Considering the damage they do though.. they would be MICROSCOPIC. We would need a new special called "magnify" in order to see our oh-so-deadly rockets.

I fired the Proton Rifle, evaluated the new animation. Wished it was more violent.


Someone mentioned firirng the Acid Rifle and animation used to be a green glob winning it the nickname Booger gun before the upgrade. Yes, I remember that, so did my pets with ranged attack also had the green glob animation. After the upgrade my pet's ranged attack now resembles a faded reddish (pink) conical mist. I like changes, but wish we could specify the animations our weapons used.


For instance, I had always believed the weapon that produced the most smoke and the loudest explosions should be the weapon that does the most damage. Not so with the launcher pistol. I always found that effect to be completely ironic and useless in a serious grinding group.


I like the idea of a grenade gun with a selector switch between AoE (unloads whole grenade stack) or single shot. Smoke grenades would be fun too as well as adding Scout trapping devices to the ammo list for such a weapon.
