Yeah, City of Heros is a great idea. The thing that makes me excited about it is their approach toward developement and the few reviews of it which say it's already more stable and polished than most other mmorpgs post launch and CoH is still in beta! Really, I think CoH will rival WoW in quality though I think WoW will be more popular simply because it's Warcraft. Who doesn't like Warcraft?

I've been intrigued by City of Heroes for awhile. My only concerns are that I understand they did a complete redesign of the game engine about a year ago due to concept flaws and the other concern I have is the lack of pvp. You wouldn't happen to have a website with some more recent information by chance would you? It is a very interesting idea for an mmorpg.

www.cityofheros.com is the main website for the game. That's where you'll find the latest news and what not on it. I found an interesting site the other day though dedicated to mmorpgs. It may have a chronicle of what's gone down with CoH. The site is www.mmorpg.com I've only been on the scent of CoH for about a month now so I don't know much about the development before then. I just know what I've read in reviews, info I've gleaned off the forums, and a few things I found on the mainwebsite where the devs talked of their approach to the game.

Oh, and as for pvp, the devs alludesomewhere on the main websiteto making player controlled arch villians an expansion to the game. Pvp is just a logical inference from having both player heros and player arch villians.

I hear you man. I am just waiting for World of Warcraft too. I will never play any online game again that has anything to do with SOE. It amazes me every day I log in and see no improvements to the game. With so much darn potential and it just goes all for not. These guys could have a million dollars cash and not get laid at the Mustang Ranch. Its just to funny.

Which is fine, its fun just starting out and all, I dident get really well versed in all aspects in the game until I played it for about 4 months. Anyways, back to my point, a lot of these newer SWG accounts love to tell us to shut up and get the hell out of here if we dont like the game, and "dont let the door hit you ku, and well it frustrates me to have to leave this game. Comments like that are just rude. Or like an old commando on the Flurry boards used to say ( Vincerox ) it is "bad form".

i do apologize for the unintended rudness - i was trying to be funny taking up kurjibaka's offer.

BUT:

i am indeed pretty new - commando about a month, SWG about 3, like yu said. what i do not understand is what are people expecting? of course you get sick of something after 6 months. i do understand that after the great financial input and tremendous time invested, you are sad/angry that you feel you have to leave. but nothing lasts forever. meanwhile all the whining on this board make the newer, more excited players like me, upset.

also i feel that for a certain percent of the players here this is just another massive online game. for me and my clan it is different. I belong to a long time SW clan - we love SW and would not play anywhere else. so if players want to go play EQ or neverquest or whatever - fine leave. i am not saying i have no criticism about SOE, but i do feel the devs are working hard to give us a fun starwarsie environment. (dont start on the cloning immposibility) i feel my money is well spent. so yes commandos have problems, but so do half a dozen other profs! !

You do not have to leave - take a month break, wait a few months even for the expansions to come out. i have been around a long time, and i know the feeling of stalety, but never have i been still addicted after almost 4 months. (well maybe besides utopia - but that is a different kind of game)

i am sry your friends have left you, and i do not mean to be nasty, but please do not wreck things for the players who are still here, for the newer players and for the die-hard SW players.

I know what your saying but I think SkipMalone is right, Ever heard of a Mmorg called neocron? I have been playing it for a year and a half now although I'm waiting for the expansion, there have been so many promises made and not kept I have almost give up, the Dome of York expansion was slated for april last year, then july, then october, then Q2 this year, along with a lot of meaningless content thats been added to keep ppl happy also with bug that are still there from beta , there has been so little information released and so many unkept promises from the developers. I will wait for the expansion to come out because it is a good game.

BUT

I see SWG going the same way....... slowly but surely, now don't get me wrong I still love SWG and intend to keep on playing my 2 accounts but I can see where SkipMalone is comming from I can just hope SoE pull he fingers out of the behind and start listening to there customers and also start fixing the things that need fixing....

I think I may have to check out Lineage 2. How was the first one? And City of Heros is a great idea for an mmorpg. See Star Wars Galaxies... great idea for a mmorpg ( who doesent like Star Wars? ). Its the single reason I bought this game.. I wanted to run around Star Wars with my friends... but it really doesent seem that way. Oh well....

well they did fix the accuracy and speed modifier for the heavy acid rifle which plagued us since release and it was on the top 5 issue for us. So the dev probably looked at commando and other professions for that matter too and thought what could we fix with minimal effort to keep them satisfied till the next publish. It would of been sweet had they upgraded the HAR itself or fixed the Heavy Weapon SEA but guess they just did not have time with what work they been doing in other areas of the game. Except for the crafting change i am really looking forward to the patch 7 and the new dungeon in 2 weeks. Like i said earlier I am going to hold out a few more month or until we find out just the extent of the changes coming in publish 8, the bulk of the combat rebalance. Im really hoping they finally get everything figured out by then since it's the miracle publish we have all been promised and that after they can focus on smaller bugs and MORE CONTENT.

oh and if you read TH's publish 8 preview post, he mentioned weapon rebalance. So if our weapons arent addressed then i doubt they will be. So hold out for the rest of you, and for you cavbuilder, check in a few weeks and see what publish 8 has to offer you, or give it another try when the space expansion comes around.

Naaaah Janina.. an attention whore is like the girls I take to clubs, get drunk and dance on the bar. Then when all the guys start to oogle at them, they start making out ( even though they arent lesbians, but its becuase they believe what all guys wanna see ). They do this so people will pay attention to them, buy them drinks, or inflate thier already tremendous egos.

Now when someone says " bye Sony, Im leaving " on these forums its really thier only meduim to convey thier thoughts to the developers or moderators who just might possibly see thier post.

Not only that, but people build relationships in game. By writting on the forums they are letting the people that they share this game with, people who have become thier SWG friends that they are no longer going to be seeing them in game anymore. Its a point of closeur. I mean, if you decided to move out of state, wouldent you tell your friends and family? Or would you simply pack up and leave ( providing you have friends and get along with your family )?

So J, just because you dont care, it doesent mean someone else doesent. And really if you dont care, then dont even bother posting...or did you troll this thread just to insert your witty comment to show how smart you are....hmmm, and your calling everyone else an attention whore. Maybe you should look in the mirror.

What it indicates to me is that at some point, some person said to himself, "Look at all those people across the road. What i wouldn't give to set them on fire. But i'm much to far away. If only there was some device that would shoot flames on them"
