I think that they're going to show the "Scourging of the Shire" as part of the Return of the King special edition is released.
From what I've read, he kills Saruman off at Orthanc and the Scouring gets left out. 
On the positive side, I'm 90% sure that with the 50 minutes of bonus footage we'll get pretty much everything else that was left out of the theatrical releast.
