Thread: Flame thrower VS Jedi

I was hoping someone else would post this but they haven't.
While it is kinda bogus that the flame gets deflected by the lightsaber, its a pretty common idea that a jedi can deflect a sheet of flame with the force. Its a sheet of flame. It doesn't have a heck of alot of kinetic energy. If a jedi can pick up a rock (say the size of his fist, or his lightsaber) using the force he should have enough ability to deflect a little bit of hot gas away from his person. So I understand the whole blocking the fire thing. It sucks, but it IS plausible in this universe. HOWEVER, when you have 5 people shooting at the guy and then the flamethrower cuts in, it should take most of his concentration to beflect the flames, which would mean all those other attacks should go right past his defenses, and even if he does manage to deflect most of the fire, the area around him is still gonna get damned hot. So maybe we should see damage done to him, but no dot OR a dot applied but no initial damage dealt (althought the dot would be based on what the initial damage would be IF it hadn't been deflected).

The thing is, by this argument, he should be able to repel grenade attacks to. But then again you only have to be close with horseshoes and handgrenades, so even if he does repel the grenade there is still a very good chance that he will be caught in the blast radius.

If ignorance is bliss, bliss is over rated.

Oh COMMANDO RULES against jedi.

You can layer on the flames and then watch em tick. Unless they are master healer or by water, they are screwed.

Plus when u hit them you can see a 1-2k damage hit. They crap their pants when they see that. Just dont forget your snow cake :-P

ehm...the slowest ranged weapon ingame vs. 85% saberblock = forget about hitting them before you die (most of the time)

you DO know jedi still have saberblock even when KD right?

Well, the only way that I ever, EVER hit them is if I break out my VK (I'm TKM/Master Commando..) dizzy them kd them then pray I can get my flamer out in time before they get back up. It all really depends on how far along the Jedi is I suppose.

my most shining moment was the other nite when i was hanging around Keren, unbuffed, SF active, no foods nothin, jsut chillin with a friend.

a rebel jedi shuttled in, and my friend ran over and attacked him (friend is a dj). i decided to go try my hand at it, and ...amazingly, one hit incapped the jedi. we had a nice chuckle and went back outside to chat some more.

less than 3 min later, out of the starport runs another rebel jedi. i just let loose with my ft and he is dead before even having the chance to initiate attack.

my friends and i could barely stop laughing...truly the high point of my short commando life thus far

Next time, try going into battle with no weapon equipped. You can still KD / dizzy, and you'll be able to pull out your flamer in half the time.

The Dizzy/kd move+breakout flamer is a great move. Im a fencer on live but on TC Gorath I made a commando/tkm. I would ask ppl to duel with no stun weaps. When the fighting started I kd/dizzied them with bare fists, and then bust out the flamer.

Against 85% heat armor, you'd be surprised how strong I would hit ppl. I could reguarly take off 500 health points with a flamesingle2.

Against jedi, I remember when Cpl_Fisher told the story about him flaming the Valcyn Jedi Raun. Ppl underestimate commando so much. Seeing as how only m healers can sure flame, even if you dont onehit incapp you got the burns working for ya.

Once upon a time, when I was young and full of energy, before I started using my HAR as a cane and my flamethrower asa heater of my old bones, I hit a jedi once. A shriek and she was dead. It made my young heart proud, and I figured that a 200 to 1 was good odds for such a handsome, young commando like me.

(200 flamesingles fired in my carrieer against jedi, 1 hit. Tells me to never play the lottery eh? )

Actually if we're talking about old builds; back in the day when there were no delays:

  • Master Commando

  • Teras Kasi Master

  • 0040 Smuggler (something like that, I had zero sp left).

I would start off the fight w/ my laucher pistol and used the Ranged KD move (last ditch?). Then, I would proceed to switching to flamethrow andstack theDOTs onto them. Usually, by then, I would pull out my VK and dizzy/kd a spam unarmedhit3 (back when mind damage wasn't dominate). If they got up and kited me around, just pulled out the good ol' LP and KD again.

Good times good times. Was a bit more thought out back then if you ask me

Okay, now I amgetting conflicting stories here. So, can Jedi Saberblock when KD/Dizzy? If so, is the Saberblock percentage is as high as when they are standing? Would forcing them to kneeling/prone work better?

I'd ask on the Jedi board, but they get a little touchy with all the people askingwhat's the best wayto kill them.
