Nah just hoping someone or someones (/pokes Garvin in teh ribs) might convince the devs to start answering some of these more basic questions to the public. That would be very nice. I have made a pact with myself that I will try not to rant until atleast after the holidays so I figure I will just ask questions.

I have made it VERY obvious (or at least have tried to) that I don't agree with the Devs communication plans surrounding the CU, but I will stand by their decissions and support them...

There are docs that need to be read together in an environment where you can get direct reponses from the Devs and Programmers as well as the folks who might have already received the answers...these docs NEED to stay private until folks enter the Beta because they'll need to be able to get quick answers...But there are also docs that I feel are very straight forward, non-specific (over-all changes) that are for the good of everyone ingame...those are the Docs that I wish (either all or part of them) that the Devs would share...

I'll keep encouraging them to share the docs/information, but even the biggest Skeptics who have finally seen the docs can rationalize some of the reasons why they haven't been publically released yet...Besides everything else, one of the biggest reasons is that they are hugely in flux...

And as I've said before...I honestly believe that the Sandbox testing would have started by now if it wasn't for us Sandbox testers being so picky...We've disected the docs so much with great ideas/change suggestions that we are creating a lot of extra work for the programmers...it's not SOE causing the hold up, it's us...so if you want to put the blame on someone, put it on all of the hardworking nit-picky Sandbox testers...

How exactly would you do unrmedhit3 with a polearm or twohandedhit2 with a knuckler? Would you with your amazing TKA powers beat the time out of someone with an invisible sword? Just funnin with ya. Garvin made this hint a long time ago. I can see the mechanic with ranged have a much harder time grasping the mechanics when it comes to melee.

Here's what i would love to know (as much as I am dieing for information nobody break the NDA though ok) LOL

1. Will we have actual defense moves that will queue up rather than defense sololey being a passive act on our part?

2. Will armor be certed or will it remain uncerted?

3. Will there be a special bar making moves more startegic and elimiating the hit3 spam fighting?

4. Will there actually be gap between being incapped and be DB'd actually allowing someone to force of will?

5. Can Iprogram a broken datapadand rig it together with a proton grenade and a MarkIV engine driving my opponent 400 meters away while instantly DB them when they land......... just kidding

There you go completely rant free... cheers!

Personally I think any type of melee weapon in Commando would be a waste. It would make Commando more of a templatized profession than it already is.I still ascribe to the principle of "don't bring a knife to a gun fight" which until all the melee upgrades and ranged nerfs was applicable to SWG. But then I also feel that melee type combat in general shouldn't have as big a place in SWG as it does right now. First we have to get un-armed brawler, and I agree that the commando skill tree should build a bit on that. But if you're going to put a weapon in the brawler pre-requisite should be for an armed tree of brawler rather than un-armed. I think that the command skill tree should give us mods to avoid damage, mitigate damage, and soak damage if we're still supposed to play in melee range. If we're supposed to be the baddest mofos out there, then I think we should get some additional unarmed specials that build on our other trees. Maybe action movie type moves like stuffing a grenade down somones pants after punching them . Either way commando to me should be the heaviest hitter out there with ranged weapons. I feel a melee tree would just dilute us.

JohboBocal seems pretty good at getting some of you to believe I actually gave him info...lol...but if you re-read his posts, he's only re-covering some of my hints (which I actually encouraged him to do) as well as re-bringing up some of our more popular discussions...I encouraged him to rebring up those hints and discussions because there were some really good info in them that I think some of our newer Commandos might have missed...There were also a lot of "red herrings"in those posts from where people took and idea and ran in the wrong direction with them...

Yeah well...us testers can't remember since now we have proceeded to lvl 2 and opened up a whole new can of worms by actually seeing the docs rather than hints...

Oh well...

*psst* Btw johbo...you really missed out on getting some great secrets!!!

You are assuming that unarmedhit3 will still exist post-CU...same with twohandedhit2...how do you know that Melee specials (And Ranged for that matter) couldn't be getting coverted in such a way that they COULD be used non-specifically per weapon...It could be the weapons job to process the special and make it specific to the profession type...in otherwords, take a generic special and if it's used with a pikeman weapon it's a pikeman special, but likewise, if it's used with a two handed sword, it becomes a two handed sword weapon (even if the generic special is found in the pikeman trees). The Devs did say that the CU will effect all weapons, armor, AND specials after all...don't assume that the same specials available now will still be the same specials available post-CU for ANY profession...OR...they very well could be all the same and only the numbers arechanging which is why this all keeps coming up (to get folks interested in the idea and maybe push for it when they get into the Beta)...

1. Will we have actual defense moves that will queue up rather than defense sololey being a passive act on our part?

Honestly won't know until we start the Sandbox testing...they are adding "counters" as TH mentioned publically in another post, but how those "counters" will operate is currently a mystery...

2. Will armor be certed or will it remain uncerted?

VERY GOOD QUESTION...I know the answer but unfortunately I can't respond (NDA)...Hopefully TH will answer that question soon regarding the Armor Changes being proposed...As I've said in the past, Armor is just one of the things that will become strategic post CU...

3. Will there be a special bar making moves more startegic and elimiating the hit3 spam fighting?

Do a search for TH's past posting of the HAM changes coming...they only touched slightly on the overall changes, but I can assure you, SPAMMING will become a thing of the past in post CU gameplay...

4. Will there actually be gap between being incapped and be DB'd actually allowing someone to force of will?

Incapping and Death will be changing...so the answer, unfortunately is YES and NO...It will all depend on the situation and who you are facing...

5. Can Iprogram a broken datapadand rig it together with a proton grenade and a MarkIV engine driving my opponent 400 meters away while instantly DB them when they land......... just kidding

Not in the CU but not a bad idea...lol...Maybe Santa Tyrant will bring us that one...

i would simply love to see people wearing something other than composite everywhere.

im assuming this criptic NDA crippled message probably actually means we might start seeing armor restricting movement that cant be overcome with a buff, so in order to do certain things you have to limit the amount and type of armor you wear, very similar to rigging your ship in JTL when you have a mass limit.

I don't think it would be a violation of the NDA to say that "wearing something other than composite" is a goal of the CU...

Harv cheers wildly for garvin.

"just what i wanted to hear!!!!!"

im sure thats been a thorn in the dev side for a while.

the strata we should see in the game should be like SW epi 4 walk into mos eisley cantina for the first time. Variety, in race, clothing and look. the image designers are a big help to this, but the way people wear composite around here... whew.

besides, imagine if mandalorian armor was easier to get ahold of. EVERYONE would be wearing it so they could be just like boba.

Very interesting. It still sounds like this will be a much more ranged oriented change then melee as most melee moves are very similiar to there counterparts in other melee proffession. I suppose that would also entail a complete restructuring off all the moves not simply adding new onescould. It couldbebetter or it could just be different but If it gets in there we'll simply see how its works.

Here's what i would love to know (as much as I am dieing for information nobody break the NDA though ok) LOL

yea I'm figuring that they are building this thing atleastin part off the Jedi model so what I figure is that defenses will work off raw percentages based on the magic number 100. Probably changing the various toughnesses in melee to a genric melee toughness and adding ranged toughness to the ranged proffessions. The counter moves theseare whats most intriguing if they are queded moves rather than passive applied then combat will bemore intense and more varied due to the increase on strategy. Anything that allows me to beat someone because Iout thought them or for me to be beat because I was out thought I welcome those changes. It should bemore than who has the most money to buy the uberess gun.

2. Will armor be certed or will it remain uncerted?

I'm looking forward to hereing about the armor changes. I just don't think the current everone where comp armor is at all good for the game. I personally think they should have class specific types of armor but I'm pretty sure thats out of the reach of the CU. I do think armor should play a greater role in startegy then it does now. The vission of a TKA doing unarmedhit3 in composite armor always seemed strange to me.... but hey thats me.

3. Will there be a special bar making moves more startegic and elimiating the hit3 spam fighting?

Do a search for TH's past posting of the HAM changes coming...they only touched slightly on the overall changes, but I can assure you, SPAMMING will become a thing of the past in post CU gameplay...

Trust me I read everything. The HAM discussion was/is an interesting one. It will be interesting if they divide the specials up into a low and high end special. One bar fading on the health and the other on action. That would be cool my opinion. Or I guess they implement just a single special move bar in the fashion of the force bar. My real concern over this is how quickly will our special move bar deplete and replenish and how will that compare to the Jedi force bar. It would be sad if they could just heal themselves until you drained your speciall bar and then slice and dice ya. hope you guys will be fighting Jedi in the sandbox and hope you have big time PvPers in the group.

4. Will there actually be gap between being incapped and be DB'd actually allowing someone to force of will?

Incapping and Death will be changing...so the answer, unfortunately is YES and NO...It will all depend on the situation and who you are facing...

Well I hope something will be done because at current "Force of Will" is virtually a useless skill accept in PVE against some med to slightly higher mobs. You can't beat a deathblow macro in PvP and high end mobs such as Nighsisters rarely give you a chance to force of will. (I know this more of a TKAtopic but most have TKA in there template here)

5. Can Iprogram a broken datapadand rig it together with a proton grenade and a MarkIV engine driving my opponent 400 meters away while instantly DB them when they land......... just kidding

If this is under the tree then we could could really own people and nobidy would ask if we have a reciept LOL
