Thread: Took down a Gorax on TC-Ep3

Just saying...I just got a feeling we'll be seeing the P-word (never really used it myself) if pets don't have damage modifiers applied to them hehe. Then the DEs screaming because droids wouldn't be useful and etc etc.
Honestly, they just need to take out the damage modifiers and we'd all be happy...

First let me start out with what cl this beastie was. He was a cl 300 creature and even I didn't think we would take him down. The first group was a rag tag group of3 commando's, 3 melee's, 1 rifleman, and a doc. We all got killed the first round after we got it down to about 1/4 health. One in the groupgave up so I had only one other person in the area that would help. A Creature Handler. This will prove to all that CH's are a viable profession now. His 2 pets, a cl 22 bocat and a cl 46 rancor, did a great job of tanking this behemoth. When we were taking about 18k per hit, his pets were hit for 500 or so. They gave us enough time to heal up a bit and continue with the attack with him regening too much. After the slight rest, we quickly dispatched him. Now for the loot. We got 5 199 max damage -0.71 speed shards off of this guy. Not sure if it is enough for a FT or a PFT on TC but I will find out soon. If you want to see these shards they will be in the newly opened Cantina in Twin Suns. Still needs some decoration but I figured I could use that to help start it up.
This also proves that with a little teamwork, andhaving people that know thier professions can overcome even one of the mightiest if not the mightiest creature on the server.
Thanks goes out to all that helped. Inculding: Ekie, German, Celst, Slayzor, Arll, -Daniele-, Morphues, and of course the CH Ralrolow and his pets Fluffy and Candor. A large and heartysalute to you all for a job well done.
Ahem, dude the pets are not ready yet in TC. They cannot die yet. So a novice CH with a Chuba could do that if the thing didn't regen its health. Don't get me wrong CH's will concievably be very useful in groups post CU. But the pets surviving here was a fluke. Wish it wasn't so, yet glad it is, or everyone would just gripe again and they would nerf CH all over. been 18 months waiting for them to rebalance everyone like they did us. Would you wait that long?

The pets didn't tank very much for us. The majority of the time the gorax was chasing one of us around. It was only when we were all incapped, that the pets did any tanking on this guy. That only lasted maybe 20 seconds or so, before we started attacking again. So in 20 second I doubt that the gorax did 10k worth of damage to the pet rancor that was helping.
I have tried out this pet bug myself. It kinda works the way you guys say, but kinda not. Yes some pets cannot be killed. But when thier HP drops to nothing they stop attacking and stop taking commands. When anyone attacks the mob, it will swap targets to the person that is doing the most damage. So this bug doesn't totally work the way you say. Oh and I did have one pet drop/die on me. I think it was because it was a mount, but I need to do a little more testing to see if this is the case.

Seriously? A CL22 suvived for more than a couple of seconds? Methinks something isnt right there. I want to believe that's true, but more than likely it just means that the Gorax isnt doing the damage it should do, or is somehow bugged in relation to pets. The devs would never make pets viable tanks.....right?

as an Ex-MCH and one who lived through the 'nerf' of 2003 (now a commando for the last year), all I can say is YAY creature handlers.....
they (alongisde Commando) are the most long suffering bunch around and its great if they actually get something out of this - -I for one will be right in thier corner cheering for them.
one point though...PLEASE PLEASE dont use the P***mon word - its the one thing that REALLY annoys creature handlers - -and rightly so in my opinion.
The whole problem though is we're back to Square One. I don't care what anyone says, CHs before the "nerf of 2003" were so far unbalanced as to be rediculous. Thats why they were nerfed.
So if they go back to being the uber tanks and capable of taking out things meant for full groups AGAIN, then we're just taking more and more steps backwards.
I know everyone likes to be a profession that can do everything solo. But it's really not good for the game. At all.

You would hope they listen to there correspondents at least.
