Instead of all these people flaming about how your an idiot for going grenades (when you didn't even say you were going to), i'm going to answer your question. Yes, grenades are the easiest (and cheapest) way to grind FS. If you do plan on doing this though, they do plan on adding a different tree to commando and changing grenades to HW, so you'll have to decide if its worth the time mastering it and then dropping it.

I would assume he'd be going 3xxx, which would take no more than say 4-5 hours...

It would take 4-5 hours, IF you had master marksman. if not it'd take more like 10-20 hours

=l. Where are you grinding lol? I went from xx43 rifleman to master in one buff session... Mastered Pike in a day...you know where to go, anything's achievable quickly. I would bet he has enough combat for the field tactics line, and marksman is a piece of cake.

I tried Commando just because my buddy on another server was killing Jedi with it. So... after getting a few blocks up the flamethrower tree I found myself having a blast with it. Just a lot of fun. Throwing nades is ok for the xp... but speed is still busted so I get frustrated waiting for the delivery. Commando has been the most fun I've had since mastering TK back inOct of last year 2003. Why all you people have such a purist attitude about what is cheating and what is not... ??? Gimme a break. If it's in the game and is something your character can DO.... piss off. It's not cheating. It's IN the game. If you hack code or mess with something that isnt IN the game... THEN YOU ARE CHEATING.

Hand me a logical reason why you think throwing grenades is cheating and I'll give you a cookie.

I for one do not think it is cheating...but people braging that they are able to cap the Combat XP in a matter of hour via Grenade use doesn't help our case...There are many FS players and Jedi who feel that the FS path should take at least a few weeks to finish even for the more hardcore players, but some are able to complete it within a day or two thanks to the exchange rate...

Some folks feel "taking the easy path" is objectional, but I agree that if it's there and not reported by the devs as an exploit or /bug, then it's ok to use and up to player preference. I don't pay your subscription costs so I can't tell you how you should play. I can share my opinion with you, but you are welcome to take it or leave it. It's always been my opinion that taking the easier route leads to less appreciation of accomplishing the goal in the long run (I always loved playing computer games like Doom, but as soon as I got the "God" codes, I found my interest was lost fairly quickly afterwards)...There seems to be a bigger sense of accomplishment for many when they take the harder path to accomplishing a goal and they finally achieve it (but again, that is chalked up to personal preference)...

My guess is that the Devs never meant for folks to have the ability to finish the FS stuff in days, so they'll likely address it eventually with some type of change (hopefully not against us)...but if you want to make guesses on how quickly it might come, consider this, people have been able to go from Novice Medic to Master Doc in a day or two since pretty much game launch and, while the Devs have said things weren't meant to work that way, they still haven't changed that fact...In otherwords, if it ain't broke, don't fix it...I have a feeling that this issue is not on their "critical" list...

Grenades is suppose to damage several targets, that is the whole purpose of a grenade. I don't see why mr. rifleman see the all deal unfair. Commando is already a nerfed profession, leave this people alone.

DoctorNerve is right. People like those are the ones who complain because they can't get more power in the game and have professions like commnado nerve while they grow stronger or get fixed. If commando have some good weapons they can use, then let them use them.

Those people that don't know what I'm talking about about fixed professions, oviously you were not playing since the first month this game start. Example: Rifleman at the begining of the game (slow, low accuracy unless target is really far away, less damage for a high piercing weapon compared with other range weapons)

SOE better get this CB right this time or you will see more people leaving.

That's just it Garvin, it doesn't take days to do it no matter what you hear. I've been doing this for over a month (and I will be mastering commando on one of my alts..that's for sure)

Sure, I did 5 million+ FS XP from Dec 2nd until today (I am 725K away). This means nothing as I need to wait for3 more village phases before I can train the other 3 branches I need. It takes 18 weeks at bare minimum to go thru all of the Aurillian quests, that's 4 and a half months.

So on top of that toss in the time it took to get glowy, and then add the time it will take to do the exit quests and the Padawan trials. You are looking at close to 6 months for most players that aren't extreme powergrinders. All in all that looks to me like a reasonable timeframe to attain novice Padawan....not even mentioning how difficult it is to grind up the LS tree.

Some good points here. Some things that every one need to understand, take c12 for instance, if that it's a cert every one starts with(even you furry wookies now). To make them heavy weapons xp is not logical. Should the commando grenades give heavy weapons xp? No, there in the right tree. Every profession has to have a combat xp tree. It's the only profession that give you special weapons to advance through that tree. You can't fault the people for finding the best way to grind out the xp. Would any of you try to grind out the FS xp with just master brawler? What would beefficient about that? People who use this make the best use of the time they spend online.

Oh, Garvin. About the tumbling deal. If these two things are comparable there was a post a while back about that from TH I think. It was during the whole FRS ordeal when they were stating that the fight clubs was an abuse of the system. It was brought up about tumbling was never intended to grind out medic so quick and it was stated that it was "working as intened".

Will they fix this (even if it needs to be fixed)? Who knows. It kind of reminds me of the old bleed shot days, but I don't think they have an easy way to fix this...

You can get about 300 to 500k FS XP in a buff (3 hours 40 mins) if you know what yer doing by chucking imp dets at Giant Baz Nitches on dath. Its just exponential compared to normal profs.

I just got 4000 Commando, took me 1 buff to grind master marksman and the commando tree with some C12s.

Now to go grind my lst 3 FS trees (only 30 more combat XP caps so to go!!.... )

Garvin back to one of your earlier post about grenades top two issue's. What are they? To me, being hit by my own grenade is not that big of an issue, if grenades could be experimented to have a nice buffer between Blast radious and ideal with only 2-3 points, not the4-5 it takes now. Also, if I can't hit anything with my grenade, It hitting me doesn't really matter, because you only ge hit by your own grenade IF you hit your target. To me, the 3 top issues for our grenades are, 1) speed mods broke. 2) accuracy mods broke. 3)I would like to see status effects on Grenades.

The first 2 I see as fixes, the third is an addition. Having grenades hit us to could actually be a balance to giving status effects like dizzy/kd for protons.
