Thread: Is commando the way to go with unlocking fs trees?

Instead of all these people flaming about how your an idiot for going grenades (when you didn't even say you were going to), i'm going to answer your question. Yes, grenades are the easiest (and cheapest) way to grind FS. If you do plan on doing this though, they do plan on adding a different tree to commando and changing grenades to HW, so you'll have to decide if its worth the time mastering it and then dropping it.
I would assume he'd be going 3xxx, which would take no more than say 4-5 hours...

It would take 4-5 hours, IF you had master marksman. if not it'd take more like 10-20 hours

Hand me a logical reason why you think throwing grenades is cheating and I'll give you a cookie.
I for one do not think it is cheating...but people braging that they are able to cap the Combat XP in a matter of hour via Grenade use doesn't help our case...There are many FS players and Jedi who feel that the FS path should take at least a few weeks to finish even for the more hardcore players, but some are able to complete it within a day or two thanks to the exchange rate...
Some folks feel "taking the easy path" is objectional, but I agree that if it's there and not reported by the devs as an exploit or /bug, then it's ok to use and up to player preference. I don't pay your subscription costs so I can't tell you how you should play. I can share my opinion with you, but you are welcome to take it or leave it. It's always been my opinion that taking the easier route leads to less appreciation of accomplishing the goal in the long run (I always loved playing computer games like Doom, but as soon as I got the "God" codes, I found my interest was lost fairly quickly afterwards)...There seems to be a bigger sense of accomplishment for many when they take the harder path to accomplishing a goal and they finally achieve it (but again, that is chalked up to personal preference)...
My guess is that the Devs never meant for folks to have the ability to finish the FS stuff in days, so they'll likely address it eventually with some type of change (hopefully not against us)...but if you want to make guesses on how quickly it might come, consider this, people have been able to go from Novice Medic to Master Doc in a day or two since pretty much game launch and, while the Devs have said things weren't meant to work that way, they still haven't changed that fact...In otherwords, if it ain't broke, don't fix it...I have a feeling that this issue is not on their "critical" list...

That's just it Garvin, it doesn't take days to do it no matter what you hear. I've been doing this for over a month (and I will be mastering commando on one of my alts..that's for sure)
Sure, I did 5 million+ FS XP from Dec 2nd until today (I am 725K away). This means nothing as I need to wait for3 more village phases before I can train the other 3 branches I need. It takes 18 weeks at bare minimum to go thru all of the Aurillian quests, that's 4 and a half months.
So on top of that toss in the time it took to get glowy, and then add the time it will take to do the exit quests and the Padawan trials. You are looking at close to 6 months for most players that aren't extreme powergrinders. All in all that looks to me like a reasonable timeframe to attain novice Padawan....not even mentioning how difficult it is to grind up the LS tree.
