Commando Archive
Thread: ThunderHeart: DOT changes will increase griefing.
Lets recap: The Bad and the Ugly.
- Fire dot granting XP: Very easily could a commando come from nowhere and do a flamesingle2/1 on an npc/creature that is currently fighting another person. The flame dot, although not stackable, will still burn very very quickly and it will sap the xp out of the poor person who was originaly fighting.
- AT-ST's will now be even more lethal than it is now. With 50k ham or higher, these things wont take damage from any sort of dots at that even. But flamedot was the only thing that was truely effective at these steel beats. The RocketLaunchers are not fast enough and take too much HAM from the user. Even if a group of commandos has RL's, they wouldnt be able to stand toe to toe with a single AT-ST. The Launcher pistol could be more effective depending on the stats in comparison to the RL's you have in your inventory, but the commando proffesion is a joke and somehow we are assinged a gun which is a pistol but gives heavy weapons XP and the proffesion will not further your skill with the weapon. Lets face it, theres nothing thats practicle against AT-ST's after the flame dot will be reduced to almost nothing against these.
Now for a look in the good side of things:
- No longer will commandos be able to place a flame dot to greif players... in PVP.
- On a side note, A master commando is lucky to even land a flame dot in PVP. Not only is the accuracy terrible, but the attack itselfis limited to 16m! Our only semi-effective attack on a ranged weaponsuffers from melee like restrictions! To land more than one flame dot is almost unheard of last time I checked. I cannot recall the last time I did it myself! There is only one way to get rid of flame dot... that is water. Rumor has itthat tumble as well can put out flame. So lets say theoreticly 2, but one is unaccounted for in the general publics eye.But anyways, this is apparentlyits not fair to haveso few ways to take away flame- people never think about terrain when fighting. They just rush where ever not thinking about keeping near a body of water, just in case. So they whine when they are on fire, when its "thier" fault for not taking an precautions to this "overpowered" problem. Its not "our" fault for thier "carelessnes"
- To even show how useless flame dots are alredy useless in pvp is , almost ANY serious PVPer gets buffs. With the rediculous regeneration rates and high health/action, then adding the % resist of the armor they wear, then the 75% pvp damage reduction, and then even after the patch, the flame out will take away 90% of the first 4 attacks. Now, at this rate, our flamesingle2 will be doing 1 damage on opponents. In no way would it be possible for a single flame dot to even become a danger in pvp.
Does anyone have anything to add?
A "Legendary" RL only available to Rebels would be used to hunt Krayts and not AT-STs. You know it, everyone elseknows it,and the Devs goddamned well know it too. No person in their right mind would pay 4,000 FP for a weapon as inaccurate as the RL (even at Master) to use it against AT-STs.
They put this in and you'll continue to use vendor-bought against AT-STs and these babies against Krayts and Giant Dune Kimos.
When I was a Master Commando I did 7100 damage (the biggest hit - all others were in the 4900-6700 range)in one shot to a pre-nerf AT-ST due to a member of my party accidentally aggroing it with an AOE attack. That was back when they still had heavy armor. Now with medium but more HAM God KNOWS what it'd do.
kayl, they did something to the RL a few patches ago. I too went from doing 7 to 9k damage to just doing a mere 4k to 5k damage on the SAME targets using the SAME rocket launcher (I rarely fire it unless its for atst hunting.. so I basically had the same rocket launcher for about 1.5 months). I think this happened when they did the creature revamp (before the atst was pumped to 55k).
if you guys want a rocket launcher discussion go ahead. It'll fall on deaf ears.
it pains me to say im glad i dropped commando. the way SOE is treating and has treated this proffession is just pathetic.
If you say no, I'd say you're a liar.

Well, I've seen every combat class in the game stand over an incapped body and proceed to wait till they rise to incap them again. You are confused. This isn't a commando issue, its a personal character issue.
Combat Medic DOTs. That's what they do. That's their entire function in the game: DOTs. They're not an offense class, so they don't apply. They're a support class in the field. You're grasping at straws and it's a bit pathetic. The fact that you think you could own me when I was a master commando/TKM is even more pathetic. You'd have to pull out your multi-sliced flamer to even compete, ... which is the kind of tactics I'm sure people like you do use.

Combat medic, they do it to the mind which is even worse. Go ahead though, please continue to spout your ignorant diatribe, as I'm sure the commando community is finding this amusing.
