Thread: Interesting thing I found out about Flamethrowers...
Ok, everyone is crying for realism. I agreed that a flame dot should hurt an ATST. But should the flame dot (as the consense seems to believe is current day napalm) burn wires or warp metal to the same degree as burning flesh ? I havea hard time deluding myself into believing I can take a shot of napalm better than a tank.
With that being said lets examine history and find out thatflamethrowers were almost never used in anti-tank warfare (let's agree that an ATST is most comparableto a modern day tank for the sake of comparison.) Thermite, an extremely exothermic (that means hot) substance was used in WW2 against tanks. Basically they ran up to a tank and slapped a thermite pack on it and ran. The thermite was ignited with a magnesium strip which lead to the extreme exothermic reaction and the armor plating became like hot butter. The cabin crew was literally cooked alive before they could reach a hatch.
Modern day tanks are made of alloys that are extremely heat resistant to prevent such a ploy from working again. The best way currently to defeat a tank is with a rocket orlandmine, just asSWG is trying to implement.
By the way all info was gathered from my old physics teacher who worked in the army developing different weapons. He conducted an experiment were a small amount of thermite was ignited over an old engine block. It literally ate through it like acid and dropped into a sand bed underneath. And an engine block does have some (very limited) protection from heat due to thickness and heat transfer.
In summary, should an ATST take damage from a flame DOT ?Yes. Should it burn as harshly as it does on flesh ? No.
Maybe they should take 10% normal flame DOT damage to simulate the small percentage that might leak in (if it can leak in...)

and as for landmines i love to be abel to lay thees things but as it stands now we have faction mine filds that suck !!! and have 600 max dam this dont hardly even dent a atst and the anti vehiclur mines suck even wors with stats ranging aron 400 -500 max dam tell me how the heck is this going to kill a 55k ham thing maby if he stood on it all day leting it hit him over and over
come on iv ben crying for a majer boost to the RL dam for a long time but evrey time imps like you shoot it down becou you dont wana loos your atst even if its a haf desint way of loosing it
Ack... I thought I was tired and incoherent...
IfI understand you correctly (and that is in doubt) then you wish an upgrade to rocketlaunchers. Aye. As far as landmines... I hope you aren't talking about the POS that the recruiters give for faction perks... You might want to check out a weaponsmith and get some decent landmines... I've also heard rumor of a powerup for landmines but I haven't personally used it. Not sure if it has to be placed on each landmine or just on the field. Anyway... my pillow is calling. Good night.
we need a leg spot special to take out a atst i mean look at it thats it weak spot a rl bam its down

Aldyn:
I agree that the damage an AT-ST takes from the Flame DoT should be limited by its Heat Resistance, for what it's worth. I've always assumed getting the full strength of the DoT on 100% heat resistant creatures was a Dev oversight.
