"LordSeckmouth (or whatever his name is) isn't getting the job done, apparently."

By who's standards? I think he's been doing a great job. You can only do so much as a correspondent, after all, it's a communication position not a development position.

Garvin makes some great, well informed posts, but LordS is doing just fine too, relax.

At this point, you'd need to make Mr.T our correspondant and send him and the A-Team to SOE's offices to get anything through to them.

When theysink down to making sweeping changes based on "Me and JustG screwing around in a Cantina..." tests... it's time to pull the ripcord and get off of this crashing plane. 100 thoughtful Master Commandos posting here obviously doesn't carry as much weight as two SOE employees screwing around in a Cantina. They did a solid 3 minutes of intensive reasearch, and they pwoved us all wrong, go figure.

Youi have to keep in mind that the Correspondents have no power TO get anything "done." It's not as if the devs don't undertsand our complaints. They do. It's that they have other priorities and Commando has really never been one of them. That's why Garibaldi_di_Alia (the first correspondent) quit, that's why Master Synn quit. In theory, the correspondent system was meant to move information about what players want more efficiently up to the devs, so that the devs could meet our concerns. In reality though, so many people have so many legitimate complaints (all of which need to be fixed) that the Devs can't satisfy us all--so they focus on one area at a time.

We got our love back in October, and the devs simply aren't likely to show much of an interest in us as a class again (especially if, as I've read elsewhere on this board, Lord Pall hates the profession) for a while. I think the hope is that by re-working the combat system, they'll be able to placate all 11 combat classes at once which might give them a breather. (Though a change to the entire combat system is likely to bevery buggy and subject to all sorts of adjustments itself, judging from past experience with this game, so I expect a mass panic when it is finally implemented.)

So the correspondents pass info up the chain, but I think that's all the devs wanted from them. I do not think they wanted to be challenged by them when the correspondent'ssuggested changes weren't implemented, and that's why when the correspondents showed they had backbones, the system became adversarial. That said, since the correspondent's only power, is the power to resign and to complain in these boards, the only reason the devs have any incentive to listen to them is pure P.R. And that doesn't give much leverage to Lord Seckmoth.

i to fill in many ways now as he did back then
the devs dont lison to any thing we say we have no power

You know what makes me really sad? Seeing maddogs drop a link to a post that was written sometime ago and since that time, nothing has changed. Meaning to me, that even that post was ignored... Truely sad, it really takes the breath out of us.
Having said that, LordS is in a tough spot and if we don't stand behind him now, then we won't be standing behind garvin either. Animals turn on each other, not men.

Just to chime in quickly here, asking the Correspondent to step down is a bad idea if for no other reason than it will be several weeks to months to get a new correspondant, during which time our profession will have no voice. Plus, as other people said, we dont see the whole picture of what LordS does on a daily basis. Of course, if he were to realize that he was being ineffective for whatever reason (i.e. RL responsibilities) I would hope he would let us know.

We need a new correspondent. Someone who cares about our profession. Someone who knows it inside and out.

I can think of noone better suited for this task than Garvin...

So, without even consulting Garvin, I hereby nominate him as our new correspondent!

Hope you dont mind...If so, too late now!

What do you suggest your correspondant do? Giving ideas about what he should do will be much better than flaming him. So in your mind (which doesn't have access to the correspondant's forum I might add) he's not getting the job done Excuse me but whoever said that it was his responsibility to get commando moved up in the dev priority queue? Did we miss something in the Correspondant's job description? "1. The correspondant is directly resonsible for ensuring that their profession is the devs top priority"

Do you recommend he post more? Well if any correspondant proved that theory doesn't work it would be the former correspondant with a post count above 7000 (Wepps).

You are so uninformed and wrong it's ridiculous. Blaming your correspondant for lack of progress is stupid at best and moronic at worst.

You fail to forget that your last correspondant quit because he was tired of being ignored. It's not your current correspondant's fault that commando doesn't work to your personal tastes. All he can do is post. Until he becomes a programmer on SOE's staff or becomes head of development he has no direct say in who gets fixed when.

Just shut up and go away already.

It should not matter who he has to work with. Point is there is alot of complaints about the commando tree and nothing is being done about it. We need somebody in there who will decide whats best for the game "stability" because thats what every other profession guy is saying and us players have a word for it now, i believe its NERF.

Fact is people that Commandos are well on there way to joining the rest of professions that are already getting nerfed. Soon we'll just have to deal with it. We might as well voice are opinions while we still got hope!

A more appropriate solution would be to replace SOE's Community Relations personnel.
