Thread: what goes well with commando

If you like your commando rare, go with a chianti for full flavor. If you prefer a well done or seared commando, you'll want a merlot for a good complement.

A bit of a caveat: Is there anything else you want to do besides being a soldier with really big guns? If not, then you can concentrate on this. If there is anything else you want to do, worry about that, as commando skills can stand alone really well.

My suggestions for complementary skills:

Medic is always good for soldiers/hunters to have. The ability to heal yourself is invaluable.

Pisoleer is a good choice, as the bonuses are applied to our Launcher Pistol, making us even more deadly with that weapon.

Weaponsmith is also a good choice, so you can always be assured of having all the weapons you need. This has the potential to eat a lot of skill points, though.

Teras Kasi Artist is a really good choice for the tanking aspect, but I haven't played it, so I am unaware of the real scoop on this.

Creature Handler will provide you with a tank that will allow you to get in close enough to do your specials without much risk to yourself. It sounds like a great idea, but it's also a huge skill point sink.

Scout is a nice complement to any class, and will provide you with money and the ability to camp, trap, and run faster, as well as attack bonuses vs. critters.

My build is:
Commando 0300
Weaponsmith 1040
Pistoleer 0040
Carbineer 2000
Scout 3311

Put it like this...

Master commando - tka 0-3-0-4 - medic 2-0-0-0

You can solo nearly anything. Today alone I've done 50-70 rancor, youths, bull, gnarled, enraged bull, ancient bull, mutant. And 9-10 fs mobs on dantooine.

TKA/Commando/Medic, or 0 44 0 commando MCH are good combos...they are rebalancing the CH skill tree thus nerfing the dabblers in it so youll have to spend more skill points in CH to get better pets. I.E. 4 4 0 0 won't be able to call a level 50 pet any more youll need soemthing like 4 4 4 3 (or something close to that not doing math right now to lazy)

if you want a good combo go TKA/commando/Medic or MCH/0440commando or MCH/0 0 4 0/novice medic and use the good stim B's. I am a mch with 0 4 4 0 commando and love it eventho i can't heal my pets take teh hits and i barely get touched unless I get sniffed out before i send my pet in then i get agroed and can't usually pull agro off...flame cone does teh trick to help me kill 5+ things at a time that are swarming my pet even with the flame dot nerf its accaully a lot better.

My suggestion to you as a commando and Ch. If you dont' plan on investing a lot of skill points in CH then dont' bother with it at all...do something else and put your skill points to use in that way. I met a TKA/Commando with some medic skills he was good in a fight as a support class and even better as a damage dealer up close. Only problem here is as a commando gets a 2.5x melee damage modifier when someones beating on them they go down real fast so having medic or some TKA or fencer for the melee/ranged defenses would be VERY beneficial.

Thats just my take on your question, good luck out there. May the empire live on. =)

Puh, the force...i don't believe in such false religions.

well... this seems to be working well as a pvp build for me..

Master Commando (but of course)

Smuggler 0 0 4 0 (ranged knockdown+ flamesingle2 and panic shot+ DOT= !%@#)

Teras Kasi 0304 (defenses galore)

Medic 0 0 4 0 (nothing like healing yourself and friends with some stim D's)

armor and buff and eat food and you're pretty much untouchable. my secret is officially out.

For PvE
Master Commando / CH 4-4-0-0 ( gives you lvl 45 pet )

For PvP
Master Commando / Pistoleer 0-4-0-4 / Smuggler 0-0-4-0

well smuggler goes well because it sahres requirements. so does pistoleer/rifleman/carbineer and tka because they all share the reqs.

other ones i would think are a medic class or CH.

Right now I have commando 3443, CH 3400, and novice medic and I have soloed everything except for the Gurrack of Endor and an Ancient Krayt. I even soloed Three Dark Jedi Masters (one right after the other) and even with their Heavy 90% armor and 29000 HAM it wasn't even close. For PVE, pickup a Graul Mauler, Flame 4 and some good stim b's, a decent set of armorand you are set. I started collecting holos and starting to work towards my first profession just because nothing was a challenge anymore.

Now if you want to do some more PVP it might be a different story, but thats not my bag baby. However anyone not wearing good armor is a one shot kill with flamesingle2 and anyone wearing armor gets annoyed by the flame DOT and wounds even if they manage to kill you.
