Both of you have some valid, good points, and just because I personally, and maybe others, take this a little more seriously - doesnt necessarily mean we have crossed that fine yet not invisible line of game vs real life. I can relate this to how people are so waiting for the combat upgrade. MANY peeps out there are stressed, frustrated, malcontent, pissed, psychotic (ryubushi), etc, etc about waiting for it to happen. Im happy to just go out and hunt many a rancor or Krayt, or whatever else i come in contact with while with me and the guildies. So i think it is fun running for your life, or ganging up on a big kill with about 15 peeps with lasers and flames all over the place, but using commando to grind and stacking things is an unacceptable point. No offense Both - as we can debate like adults - keeping in mind we both have differing opinions - and thats OK. I view it as stacking is an overall development process of a character you are paying cash to have. Of course your gonna stack - especially being commando, and once done spending all your SP - thats the character you have in this crazy game.

The inherent difference in using us to grind is there is no love for the profession - I think one can say that without crossing that line. Its ok to absolutely adore this game, and it doesnt mean your even close to that line. For someone to come in hereand all out say he is only using this for force grinding is ridiculous. It would be like a BH going into the Jedi forum and asking them whats the best way to do something. Im not saying we should hunt him down and kill his birds - just simply i wont offer help to that kinda person - solely because im going to give advice to someone who isnt even going to sit and enjoy my profession once he gets my advice. Hes going to use my advise - climb up the ranks of Jedi-ism(?) and then prolly end up killing me in PvP one of these days - No thank you.

I hope this helps you see my point of view - and hopefully the others.

Lmao, thanks! My brother would urge you not to encourage me, though. He seems disturbed and worried by the fact that I'm a para-military nutball, keepa website with detailed instructions on making a home-made flamethrower bookmarked for easy reference, and have a few minor anger management issues.

I think my sensei is actually a little worried, too.

Is that some kind of sign?

/Hi5

What's wrong with a homemade flamethrower?

Anger management problems? just send me a tell. I'm SURE we can solve the problem with a few trips to the barn and some sulfer and charcoal......

Yes, this is a GAME, that's exactly my point. In my opinion, grinders fall into the same category of those who find exploits, continually forcing the devs to 'fix' issues that allow players to take an unfair advantage. It can easily be argued that aplayer should 'use the system available', but I think it is entirely too easy in this game to ruin any given situation for honest players by using the system. I know that many don't agree with me, and I'm fine with that, it's just my opinion. Please, don't anybody take this as a personal attack... that's not my point. I just think that people would have MUCH more fun in-game if they didn't continuously try to grind their way to a 'better place'. Sometimes, it's fun NOT to be god. To this day, the most fun I have had in-game is running like a silly little baby lizard away from a krayt dragon (big mean nasty lizard) and getting killed.... there was just this whole excitement factor. Honestly, though, my biggest fear is some developer sitting in a cube scratching his head going "hmm, grenades are giving players an unfair advantage getting force sensitive xp..... we should nerf that". Commando has already seen HUGE nerfs to their ability to harvest xp and loot rights, i have several screenshots of a dying krayt dragon with over 2/3WOUND damage (i'm the only commando in the area)... followed immediately with a screenshot of the message "you do not have permission to loot this corpse".... That's my fear and my concern, it's as much a problem with the system as with the players who use the system.

can you school me up a little on the obove mentioned nerf. Man I was really wondering why me and peeps weren't getting the loot, cause they were telling me, "this baby is ours, your hitting it pretty hard" (as we commandos always do), but to our suprise we would get that "you do not have permission to loot this corpse" sign. it was frustrating.

CM's get loot rights from wounds generated from diseases, I have had several kRayts tolen from me by a lone CM. I am not looking to nerf CM, but if one dot counts toward loot rights. ALL dots countotoward loot rights.

To answer the original question....

Best way to get FS combat xp quickly using grenades is first of all identify a creaturethat is vulnerable to the damage type of your grenades. I use proton grenades, being a master commando, which are heat damage. This means heat-vulnerable animals such as baz nitches and ravenous tortons are all good game. C22s are blast - not sure what is vuln to that, try checking swgcreatures.com. Glops are acid damage and should be available to you soon, and lots of fairly high level stuff is acid-vulnerable.

Next, get missions for that creature (ideallywhen being ina large group so that more of them will spawn - assuming you are a strong enough char to handle them). Now head to the mission and target the lair only. Tap it once with your flamethrower / whatever weapon you are using, and all the critters will run towards you, surround you and attack you.

Stand directly on top of the lair, and just keep throwing grenades at it. By throwing them at the lair, you never miss!! And assuming the grenades have a reasonable blast radius, you will continue to hit all of the critters attacking you. By using this method, I can kill baz nitch lairs using3 or 4sets of proton grenades and getting over 70k of combat xp. This means I cap in 4 lairs, which takes around 40 minutes depending on distance to lairs etc. You can therefore get approximately 100k force xp an hour, significantly better than ANY other profession.

This is using protons as a master commando, so if you are only able to use C22s it will take you longer, so I would advise you to progress up that tree as much as possible - thermal / imperial detonators are an adequate substitute.

The risks / drawbacks:

Well, the main problem is the cost. You go through grenades ridiculously quickly, and they aren't cheap. One bit of advice here, as already mentioned, would be to also use grenade powerups (increased damage), as then you are getting more punch per grenade, saving you money in the long run. Speak to your local master artisan for the best results here. I would also recommendbefriending a master weaponsmith, as grenades can be a pain in the ar$e to make!

What I also do is slice my grenades, being a master smuggler. This gives me tradeable force sense xp at the same time, and doesn't take any extra time cos I do it on my bike as I am travelling to each mission. However, it does use up tools very quickly so can be a little 'un-economical' (really don't think that's a real word!).

Another risk, especially using higher level 'nades such as thermals and protons, is that you can blow yourself up!! Early on I found I was having to feign death all the time as my health was getting decimated by my own attacks. However, after having my own custom heat-resistant armour made up, it's no longer such a problem.

The final risk is at the hands of the critters themselves - if you are in a big group, 5 will be sitting outside the lair, and an additional 5 will spawn as you start tapping the lair. If they are high-level critters, this can be dangerous. Tailor your attacks to suit what you think you can handle, either by getting lower-level critters or perhaps polishing off a few in the conventional manner before you start hitting the lair.

Hope this helps!!

NB/ To all other commandos that have posted replies here, I fully understand your point of view. FYI, I have been a master commando myself for 8 months now and dearly love the profession. I will not be going jedi when I complete the FS grind, I am merely doing it to unlock my second char. I will never leave commando, as I enjoy it more than any other profession I have tried!
