Thread: Proton Rifle...
Plus it doesn't fire due to a resurfaced CU Beta bug.
So many things...it doesn't seem to be true and that we're all exaggerating, but dammit you can't make this stuff up.

There was all kinds of sarcasm in myslightly intoxicated (due to servers being down and beer + forum trolling= bad) post. There is no way to onehit incap any CL80 prof with any weapon I have seen. Last Ditch isn't a one hit incap (as some of our glowstick friends like to think) because it does fail about half of the time and you have to be just about dead to get any damage out of it. I could feasibly see that weapon laying a 4-6k hit out with Last Ditch IF you did not incap youself first.
Speaking of DPS. I am starting to feel that modified DPS isn't all it appears to be. That is another topic though. Wasn't meaning any bit about the mitichlorians/neurons/protons post... just was being a goofball smart arse.

Oh and that Katarn doesn't hit too weak either. Was getting hit for 532 a pop wearing 8.1k kinetic assault armor and 230 melee defense... Took myself and a TK/Smuggler to chain root it while I burnt the thing to a crisp with Proton Nades, Flamer, and LBC.
With 290 melee defense and Master Defender/MLS with Healer 4/4/0/0 a friend of mine was getting tagged for 1.4k a pop by N-K. Sounds like he is still a little overpowered.

I was down there tonight as well. He is not hitting as hard but he cleared 3 Knights in a matter of seconds that got cocky. One defender tanked him as myself and another mate chain rooted him. That should not be the case to achieve a master weapon that a prof depends on for their only non-AoE weapon.
Edit: I challange anyone to take him down without a Jedi (read:master defender) often enough to get that one drop of a Proton Rifle with a death ratio of better than 2:1 for your group and see if you get lucky enough on a lottery loot to get it for all the work and death the group put in. Easy enough to cut through the brain spiders or else chase a MDef with AI running to get past them. Fighting this battle is above that 10 fold.

Well first of all, Necro does kinetic damage oddly enough. Theres your first tank problem bein in recon armor and all (I wear 6800 Kinetic Assault). Secondly Duelist stance only works with ranged (not sure if it was a bug or intended). I agree with the hits part as he can and does dish out some damage if you let him stay on you too long though with a competant healer it makes it a bit easier. There also seems to be a strange bug with armor in general where a hole developes or a piece is bypassed for some reason (He hit me tonight for 2500 using this very bug). We did it once without a Mdefender, was challenging but was done. Much easier with a MDef tanking though.
As an entertaining sidenote I have been rather entertained by this mob in t he fact in the many many times we ran this NK didn't drop the same weapon very often. Made it like Christmas. ![]()
