if im not mistaken they are also on timer for use. i seldom if ever use pet specials however. i would prefer they just remove it and let em randomly use on their own. the only macro i would suggest is use /tellpet attack; /pause X (x is time it takes for pet to run 80 meters); /tellpet usespecial1or2;
some folks are having trouble in the last patch about certain types of pets that now run off in an attack and have come up with work around macros for it. but i dont know of any macro that makes pet special use easier other than one like i described.

Crippling Strike is a posture down attack.
Plague Strike is an area effect disease. On a tamed pet it starts at around 150 wounds per tick and gradually increases. On a wild creature it can start higher.
Open Wounds is an area effect bleed attack that does about 150 per tick. (I have seen speculation that the target must have wounds and that the bleed is proportional, but that hasn't seemed to be the case to me.)
