that idea is not bad ... but

1. it would not help in battles.

2. it would lead to griefing players even more.

3. it would lead to even more crying.

I can't say that I agree with points 1 or 2 at all. Having more options always helps in battles. I've faced a number of occasions where having a faster firing AP weapon would have been highly preferable to the DOT that FT's give you. I also don't see how it would lead to more griefing. People see the FT as a griefing tool because of the wounds and fire DOT. I don't see how the proposed changes to the HAR would make it worse than the FT for griefing.

It may lead to more crying, but I can't think of a single change they've made to this game that hasn't lead to crying.

As the master of heavy weapons, commandos should be given access to a greater variety of "light" heavy weapons. If we don't want the HAR to turn into another version of the FT, I think the LLC is an appropriate weapon to model it's stats after.

/agree with original post

The Acid Rifle should be an alternative weaponto the flamethrower, not an identical weapon with a different model and animation. The flamethrower has the advantage of the DoT, however, which means to make the Acid Rifle truly balanced with the flamethrower it would need a noticible DPS advantage as far as direct-damage is concerned.

This would also make ittacticallysound to get BOTH Acid Rifle and Flamer trees - you start out by using FlameSingle/FlameCone on the enemies you're fighting to put the DoT on (thus raising your effective DPS), then switch to your Acid Rifle to do direct damage while the flames work their magic.

The HAR has to be improved somehow. I have tried it one time, it goes like: missed, missed, 1500 dmg. Ehrm, I'll stick to my FT =)

The HAR is after all a rifle, so how about increasing it'S ideal range. No I don't wont another T21 but I would love the idea of hiiting an enemy, that is further away than 20 m.

Btw, the HAR is the only rifle that is missing a great BOOM! Maybe the art directors can add something like green slime or something, I always like to hear the WOW of noobs watching me fight =)

It's not IF I can do it, it's HOW MUCH you're willing to pay.

I have heard "rumor" that disarming shot in the pistol line will actually begin to start causing damage to the weapons. If this happens I would be fine with the acid rifle to cause damage to the targets armor. I know it will get shot out of the sky but always worth a shot. As far as the PvE aspect with the HAR...Increase the range and the speed a little. Maybe add a blind effect to it. Acid in the eyes wouldnt feel to great imo.

Just some rambling thoughts.

Mister_Heavy I love your ideas, it would make me want to use the HAR because I'm sick of the LP and FT.

Wow, that's a great idea. It might actually prevent me from selling off the HAR that I bought before hitting Commando, only to find out that it's currently rather useless.

I mostly agree with the original post. I'd like to see theHAR be AP1 and AS1/2 have the full 64 m range and a much shorter delay. However, I think the acid cone attacks should remain in and be at short range with a slightly shorter delay and no DOT or be completely unchanged. The acid rifle has to cool down? I can accept a long delay after acid cone and rationalize it as some sort of reload/recharge time.

Couldn't agree more. Make the HAR a viable weapon...That way, when u see a commando he won't *always* be using a FT...

I wouldn't mind the HAR start acting like the LLC. After all, Commandos are supposed to be the Heavy weapon users, why wouldn't we have something like that anyways? LLC should be one of our certs also, even though saying so will make the BH's angry because probably most of them are already "class gestapo" and angry about anyone that wants to make their already strong class any less unique.

I'd like to see the HAR and FT share one tree in the commando class though, as well as all expendable weapons sharing one tree as well. That would open up 2 trees to add new things to make the commando class more in depth and useful and feel actually thought out instead of just spreading the already thin class out over what we have now.

This is still the best idea in the forum, IMO. *cough* bump *cough*
