Unarmed isnt that hard to get.I made a new character and had UA IV after two days. Quit thinking like a marksman.

Blind, intimidate, and stun are your friends.

Lets not kid ourseleves, unarmed sucked. Not because the moves aren't interesting or the idea of brawling is bad. No, it sucks because you do no damage and have to resort to using guns to bleed the real damage. Each time I leveled I'd run out and try my new move.... does 138 damage.... that just doesn't cut it.

Lol, and using VK's just to halve the delay even though you aren't certified for it, thats pathetic but necessary.

Its to keep us at the elite hybrid level.

Take up TKA also and you want to see some use from unarmed also Of course I would love to see them add some unarmed moves in the Commando tree.

currently:

Master Commando

TKA 1,0,0,3

Scout 3,0,2,4

Medic 0,0,0,0

I think the point of unarmed is to point out that commandos are 100% combat warriors, everything we have in the entire proffession is geared towards takeing (to a far lesser extent) and dishing out raw damage.

Unarmed should be essential to any ranged weapon profession.

True, ranged weapons imply that you kill your target beofer it gets to you but we all know that this doesn't happen...thus, the old military axiom of "close with and destroy you enemy," still holds.

Besides, nothing unnerves an opponent more when you drop your carbine and charge them, and why? Because they know once you get close to them, they're super, uber, laser carbine is useless...

UNARMED XP TIP : here is how i got my UA xp dead easy fast

1) goto squil cave

2) make sure you bring along your ATST

3) using ATST shoot squils for 30-40% damage before attacking in melee.

4) once you start to UA attack, stop the atst from shooting,

5) the mob will now stay on the ATST and not turn to attack you - but sometimes they will ( thats why you have an atst backing you up

6) if the mob turns to you to fight ( rare ) get the ATST to shoot once or twice and it tunrs back onto the ATST , now stop the ATST from shooting again.

7) lvl 4 bralwer using this technique is

Craker, get over it. You said you need unarmed for smuggler who also never uses it. It's not all about the damage you put out, its also about the defences. My main in scout/ranger, and use pistal for most my damage. I have unarmed to 3 and working, slowly, to 4 for the help in defence. I'm thinking of trying out either smuggler or commando.

Its a skill set that makes sence for what a commando does, and is kind of a RP thing. It is hard you're right, but once you get commando you are a bad ass, and can do some serious damage.

People complain that BH are to kick ass and can do to much damage. Well they have to completely master 2 professions just to get novice BH. The amount of combat xp alone is a major grind. It come waaayy slower then unarmed. They are total bad asses but they worked hard to get there, and they have little skill points left to get anything else once they are master BH.

I feel your pain. Unarmed really sucks and even more so since you don't end up activly using it once you hit novice. Taking away vibro knucklers was a really bad idea cause they really helped me. Luckily i made it through the first 3 boxes before they put in the VK cert. All I can say is keep pounding away and eventually you'll get there and can put the horrible experience behind you. They won't take away the prereq but you'll have more fun trying to get the enourmous amounts of combat xp.

There is something I read on one of the replies that I really don't understand: "you can't kill a mob before it gets to you with ranged weapons" Are we playing the same game? Maybe you didn't raise the ranged support path (then I would understand!) but if you have it, all the answers to your problems are there! It is very much possible to kill red mobs without them getting to you or at least not letting them meele you most of the times.

That path in the marksman tree is absolutely essential if you are going to go full ranged or want to kill a mob before it gets to you.

Yo I don't understand why u guys are complaining, i got the whole unarmed tree in my own littlt secret way I ONE DAY so boo yaa=P also i think it is good, cuz intimidate can be life saving since it lowers the damage done by creaters.

Well rather than insult you like a 3 year old, I will offer some advise. Use your pistol bleeds and switch to UA after you fire them. best way i did it. /prone; /aim; /healthshot1; /healthshot2 Unarm pistol. while in the prone the NPC/creature wont attack until the bleeds kick in, then stand and run back 20-30 steps and wait, dont let it die with out hitting it atleast 1 time or you get nothing. Do squalls on Rori they run slow but beware the females BAF and the nests are 500 xp + 1000 creds to boot.

Good luck and dont let the insulters get to you spelling is over-rated.
